Logistics and supply chain companies

326 companies assessed. 144 of them, 44.2%, sit in the two least protected bands, against 53.3% across all 10,525 companies assessed.

The picture

Logistics splits hard along one line right now: do you own something scarce and physical, or do you sell a service anyone can undercut on price. Ports, rail networks, ocean carriers and pooled pallet systems sit on long leases, government concessions or capital nobody can replicate fast, and their pressure scores stay low no matter how much AI reshapes planning software. Brambles, DP World, MSC, CMA CGM, the North American rail giants and Asian port operators all show almost no customer defection because there is nowhere else for that freight to go. The damage is concentrated in commodity parcel delivery, freight brokerage and asset-light forwarding, where price wars between well-funded rivals (J&T Express, SF Holding, Delhivery, Lalamove) are grinding weaker players into losses or outright collapse. China's express sector is a case study: YTO, STO and Yunda are all fighting the same price war, but only the ones with better margins or state backing are holding position while smaller peers bleed volume. India and Southeast Asia show the endgame already playing out, with Ecom Express, Gati, Rivigo and InstaFreight absorbed or gone. The deciding dynamic is simple: control of physical infrastructure with contracted or leased scarcity beats any amount of tech spend in a business where the product is basically interchangeable trucks and boxes.

Questions people ask
Will Chinese parcel delivery companies survive the AI era
Some will, but not all equally. YTO Express is pulling ahead on e-commerce share and profitability while STO Express and Yunda Express are stuck in the same price war with thinner margins, and Alibaba selling down its stakes adds more uncertainty for the weaker ones.
Are ports and rail companies safe from AI disruption in logistics
Yes, largely, because their advantage is physical and contractual rather than software-based. DP World, PSA International, Canadian National Railway and Canadian Pacific Kansas City run networks or leases nobody can duplicate, so their pressure scores stay very low.
What happened to Ecom Express and other Indian logistics startups
Ecom Express was absorbed by Delhivery in 2025 at an 80% valuation discount and largely shut down. Rivigo and Gati also collapsed or got folded into larger players, showing how fast asset-light Indian logistics firms lose ground to Delhivery's scale.
Is freight brokerage a dying business model
Not dying outright, but the weaker players are losing. Coyote Logistics under RXO is shrinking as C.H. Robinson uses AI-driven automation to win the same brokerage accounts, and Germany's InstaFreight went insolvent with its book split among sennder, Uber Freight and DHL Freight.
Which Southeast Asian courier companies are struggling
Kerry Express Thailand, GoGoX in Hong Kong, and Pos Malaysia and GDex in Malaysia are all under heavy pressure. In each case a bigger, better-funded rival (J&T Express, Lalamove, SPX Xpress) is taking volume through price competition they cannot match.
Why are Japanese logistics companies doing better than Chinese ones
Japanese firms like Mitsubishi Logistics, Seino Holdings and Senko Group hold long relationships and stable infrastructure with limited direct customer defection, while China's express sector is a five-way price war (YTO, STO, Yunda, ZTO, Deppon under JD) that keeps compressing margins.
