The call

Regulated gaming is growing fast while the legacy TV production business barely moves, leaving Banijay's story split between two very different growth rates.

Banijay Group owns two separate businesses: a sports betting and casino company in Europe that is growing steadily, and a TV and film production company with thousands of hours of shows and formats that it can sell to networks and streaming services. The production side is hard to copy because owning proven hit formats gives real value, but it is getting easier to replace because Netflix, Amazon, and Disney are now making their own shows instead of buying from independent producers like Banijay, and artificial intelligence is starting to generate cheap short clips and simple dramas that used to need human writers and crews. The biggest question is whether Banijay can grow its production business in the second half of 2026, because if growth stays below 2 percent, the company becomes just a steady cash generator rather than a growing business, which would change how investors see its worth.

Why
01
AI pressure: AI-generated short-form drama tools and Amazon MGM's in-house AI production beta. Cheap AI-made microdrama and studio AI tools threaten low-end production costs, not Banijay's licensed formats yet. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Netflix, Amazon MGM Studios, Disney producing more content in-house. Streamers are 23% of Banijay's production revenue and are commissioning more internally, coinciding with flat +0.4% growth. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Regulated gaming licenses across France, Germany and Italy plus a 260,000+ hour owned format and IP library streamers still license.
What would change this call
Content production revenue growth for H2 2026 stays below 2% constant-currency. Would confirm streamers cutting external commissioning is hitting Banijay's production business.
Netflix, Amazon, or Disney publicly announce reduced external commissioning budgets. Would directly validate that in-house production is displacing independent producers like Banijay.
Net debt/EBITDA exceeds 3.5x by end-2026 without matching EBITDA growth. Would show integration of Tipico and All3Media straining finances rather than adding earnings power.

Questions people ask
Is Banijay Group profitable in 2026?
Yes on an adjusted basis. FY2025 standalone Adjusted EBITDA was €961.1m, up 8.6%, and pro forma 2025 combined figures including Tipico and All3Media show adjusted EBITDA of about €1.6bn and adjusted free cash flow of about €1.2bn, reported 2026-03-05.
Who owns Banijay Group?
Banijay Group N.V. is publicly traded on Euronext Amsterdam (ticker BNJ). Vivendi bought a 26.2% stake in 2016 for about €290m but has been disposing of shares since, including a June 25, 2025 sale at $9.00/share; founder Stephane Courbit remains linked via LOV Group.
Who is Banijay Group's biggest competitor?
In TV production, Fremantle (RTL Group) and ITV Studios are the closest rivals, with Banijay's CEO publicly not ruling out an ITV Studios acquisition on 2026-03-04. In gaming, Banijay Gaming competes with Flutter Entertainment, Entain and FDJ United across European betting markets.
Could AI replace Banijay Group's content production?
Partly, at the low end. China's short-form microdrama market hit 95% AI-generated content in Q1 2026, and Amazon MGM Studios began closed-beta AI production tools in March 2026, but Banijay's owned catalogue of 260,000+ hours and 2,000+ premium formats after the July 2026 All3Media merger remains harder to replicate.
Is Banijay Group's debt level a risk?
Yes, it's a flagged risk. Net debt stood at €2.57bn (2.7x leverage) at end-2025, and leverage is expected to rise to roughly 3x by end-2026 as Banijay absorbs the €4.6bn Tipico deal (closed April 23, 2026) and the All3Media merger (closed July 9, 2026), which itself brought about £878m of debt.
Did Banijay Group acquire All3Media?
Yes. The merger of Banijay Entertainment with All3Media (RedBird IMI's production unit) was announced in March 2026 as a roughly $8bn 50:50 combination and completed on 2026-07-09, creating a combined catalogue of over 260,000 hours across 2,000+ formats spanning 25 territories.
