The call

Boomi is a real, growing business wedged between AI tools that could shrink integration work and a newly combined Salesforce rival, with its private equity owners still deciding what comes next.

Boomi sells software that lets companies plug their different business applications together so data flows smoothly between them. It is hard to leave once you build workflows on their platform, but Salesforce just bought two larger competitors (MuleSoft and Informatica) and Microsoft also offers similar tools, so customers have cheaper or simpler options now. The real test comes in the next year: if Salesforce convinces Boomi's biggest clients to switch, Boomi loses its main advantage and becomes just another vendor fighting for scraps.

Why
01
AI pressure: Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude agents. Low-code integration builders are easy for AI to replicate, pushing Boomi to sell governance for other agents instead of the connectors themselves. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Salesforce (MuleSoft plus Informatica, deal closed Nov 2025). Salesforce now owns two integration rivals at once and can bundle them against Boomi inside Fortune 500 accounts. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Deep, hard to rip out connections inside over a quarter of Fortune 500 companies, plus 75,000 AI agents already running on its platform.

Questions people ask
Who owns Boomi now?
Boomi has been privately owned by Francisco Partners and TPG Capital since May 2, 2021, when they acquired it from Dell Technologies in a $4 billion cash deal. Steve Lucas has served as Chairman and CEO since December 2022. No IPO or sale has been announced as of July 2026.
Is Boomi profitable?
Boomi does not publicly disclose profitability figures. It is privately held by Francisco Partners and TPG since a 2021 $4 billion buyout from Dell, and company-reported traction includes 30,000+ customers as of February 2026, but no audited profit or loss figures are available in public sources.
Is Boomi laying off workers in 2026?
No confirmed large-scale 2026 layoff has been reported for Boomi. A targeted layoff occurred in December 2022 following the Dell spinoff, and 2023 employee reviews described recurring sales-org attrition, but no 2025-2026 mass layoff event appears in available sources as of July 2026.
Could AI replace Boomi?
Boomi is positioning itself as infrastructure underneath AI, not something AI replaces: in May 2026 it launched Boomi Connect, an MCP gateway bridging Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT Enterprise, and Microsoft Copilot to 1,000+ enterprise tools. However, its low-code integration-builder work is increasingly AI-generatable by rivals doing the same.
Who is Boomi's biggest competitor?
Salesforce is Boomi's largest threat after closing its acquisition of Informatica in November 2025, adding to its existing MuleSoft integration platform. Workato was also named a Leader in Forrester's iPaaS Wave in Q3 2025, intensifying competitive pressure on Boomi's mid-tier enterprise integration position.
Is Boomi a safe company to join in 2026?
Boomi reports 30,000+ customers and over a quarter of Fortune 500 companies as clients as of February 2026, with an active product cadence including AI partnerships with Gong, ServiceNow, and AWS. It remains PE-owned since 2021 with no confirmed 2026 layoffs, though a pending Lunar.dev acquisition and Salesforce competition add uncertainty.
