The call

The Wish marketplace lost its race to Temu and now sits inside a liquidating Qoo10, while the ContextLogic shell tries a new life buying industrial assets like US Salt.

Wish used to be a shopping app where people bought cheap items from sellers around the world, but it lost almost all its customers to Temu, a similar app that took over the market. The Wish brand had nothing that made it special or hard to copy, so when Temu came along offering the same thing, shoppers just switched. Now the company that owns Wish has split into two parts: the marketplace itself is being shut down by a court, and the parent company is trying a new strategy by buying and owning other businesses like a salt mining company. The real question is whether this new parent company can survive paying off the huge debt from buying the salt business while it waits to buy more companies, or whether money problems force it to sell everything off.

Why
01
AI pressure: Temu's AI-driven pricing and logistics engine. Temu already runs AI pricing and fulfillment that outcompeted Wish's marketplace before ContextLogic sold it off. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Temu (PDD Holdings). Temu captured the bulk of the cross-border discount market Wish once owned, a shift that predates and outlasted the sale. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. About $2.7 to $2.9 billion in retained federal tax losses plus cash from selling Wish, now funding an unrelated industrial buyout strategy.

Questions people ask
Is Wish still owned by ContextLogic?
No. On April 19, 2024 ContextLogic sold substantially all Wish operating assets to Singapore's Qoo10 for about 161 million dollars cash. ContextLogic Holdings kept only cash and roughly 2.7 to 2.9 billion dollars of federal NOLs, and pivoted into an industrial holding company.
Is Wish still competitive with Temu?
No. Third-party IPC data cited by Digital Commerce 360 in January 2026 shows Wish lost 95% of its cross-border e-commerce market share between 2018 and 2025, while Temu grew from under 1% to 24% share over the same period.
Is ContextLogic Holdings profitable?
ContextLogic Holdings reported zero revenue for full-year 2025, down from 43 million dollars in FY2024, per its March 5, 2026 earnings release. Its only current revenue comes from newly acquired US Salt, which posted 132.1 million dollars in FY2025.
What does ContextLogic do now if it does not sell anything online?
ContextLogic Holdings rebranded as a business ownership platform pursuing a serial-acquirer strategy. It closed its first deal, buying US Salt Parent Holdings for 907.5 million dollars enterprise value on February 26, 2026, funded partly by a 115 million dollar rights offering.
Who is buying products on Wish now, and does it still exist?
Wish.com is technically still live and its help center described operations as normal as of May 20, 2026, but its parent Qoo10 faced a court-ordered liquidation in November 2024, and Wish's monthly active users had already fallen from 90 million in 2021 to 12 million by 2023.
Could AI replace what Wish or ContextLogic does?
Not directly. Wish lost its market to a better-capitalized human competitor, Temu, not to AI automation; industrial salt, ContextLogic Holdings' only operating asset, is largely untouched by frontier AI. No verified AI deployment by either entity was found as of mid-2026.
