The call

deBridge still moves real volume and sits inside real trading apps, but cheaper native rails and routing layers are squeezing it from both sides while its token keeps sliding.

deBridge is a service that lets people move money and assets between different blockchains, like moving cash between banks. It has processed $20 billion in transfers and works with popular apps like Trojan and Drift, but it is getting squeezed from two directions: cheaper routing tools like LI.FI can send transfers anywhere they want each time, and Circle's CCTP service moves stablecoins for free, stealing its main business. The only thing that could save deBridge is if the apps using it become so tied to its way of working that people do not want to switch, but right now those apps can easily swap to other services whenever they want.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI agents don't directly threaten deBridge yet; the bigger risk is automated routers picking cheaper paths per transaction. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Circle CCTP. Circle's zero-fee USDC bridge across 11 chains undercuts deBridge on the highest-volume stablecoin transfers. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Deep app integrations with Trojan, Drift, Solflare and Zeta give it usage that isn't easy to swap out overnight.

Questions people ask
Is deBridge profitable in 2026?
No audited profitability data exists. An AI-generated estimate put Q1 2025 protocol revenue at $2.96M, but this is unaudited. DBR token market cap fell to roughly $30M by July 2026, down from a $250-300M FDV at its October 2024 launch, signaling weak investor confidence in near-term profitability.
Has deBridge had layoffs?
No layoffs are reported. Third-party estimates from Crustdata put deBridge at 48 employees as of June 2026, with headcount growing 41.2% year-over-year, suggesting expansion rather than cuts, though this figure is a third-party estimate, not a company disclosure.
Could AI replace deBridge?
AI-assisted orchestrators like LI.FI, Eco Routes, and UniswapX are commoditizing the bridge-routing layer by picking the cheapest rail automatically, per a 2026-07-08 industry report. This threatens deBridge's user-facing role, but its solver network and integrations with Trojan, Drift, and Solflare remain harder to replicate.
Who is deBridge's biggest competitor?
Circle's CCTP is the most direct threat for USDC flows, offering zero protocol fees across 11 chains as of May 2026. Among bridge peers, Across and Stargate (LayerZero, ~$7.5B connected TVL as of Q2 2026) outrank deBridge in volume, per a 2026-06-11 report.
Who owns deBridge?
deBridge is privately held with no parent company, per Crustdata (2026-06-26). It raised a $5.5M seed round in September 2021 led by ParaFi Capital, plus a Seed VC-II round in March 2023. Founder Alex Smirnov leads the project; the DBR governance token, launched October 2024, is its primary equity-like instrument.
How much cross-chain volume has deBridge processed?
deBridge reports lifetime DLN volume over $20B across 25+ chains as of June 2026, ranking it top-10 by cumulative volume but smaller than Across or Stargate, per an Eco.com report dated 2026-06-11. An earlier 2024 report cited monthly volume of $18.6B to $50B (Sept-Nov 2024), a different, non-comparable metric.
