Crypto and digital asset companies
337 companies assessed. 263 of them, 78.0%, sit in the two least protected bands, against 53.3% across all 10,525 companies assessed.
Crypto is splitting into two very different worlds. On one side sit exchanges, custodians, and infrastructure firms that banks, funds, and governments actually rely on, and those are mostly stable or growing. On the other side sit hundreds of blockchain projects, DEXs, and smaller exchanges fighting each other for the same shrinking pool of traders and developers, and most of them are losing. The numbers back this up: out of 337 companies, only 6 are judged genuinely built to last, while 194 are losing its protection and another 69 are wide open to losing more ground. The one thing deciding outcomes is concentration. Trading volume, liquidity, and capital keep flowing to a handful of winners like Hyperliquid, Upbit, and Binance-linked platforms, while smaller exchanges, regional Layer-1 chains, and DeFi protocols get starved out one by one. Institutional-facing firms tied to banks, like Progmat, Zodia Custody, and Fidelity Digital Assets, are largely insulated because they serve regulated money rather than retail speculation. Everyone else is exposed to the next liquidity migration, hack, or regulatory shift, and several names in this set have already shut down entirely.

- Which crypto exchanges are most likely to survive long term?
- Bank-backed or institution-focused players like Fidelity Digital Assets, Upbit, and SBI VC Trade look most stable because they serve regulated demand rather than pure retail speculation. Smaller regional exchanges like GOPAX and BC Technology Group's OSL are losing ground to bigger licensed rivals.
- Is Hyperliquid taking over the decentralized derivatives market?
- Yes, Hyperliquid has absorbed most of dYdX's and Synthetix's trading volume, reportedly reaching 44-73% share of decentralized perpetual futures while both of those older platforms have fallen to near-zero activity.
- What happened to FDUSD stablecoin?
- FDUSD, issued by First Digital and mostly traded through Binance, saw its trading volume collapse 86.7% in February 2026 after Binance shifted its promotional support to World Liberty Financial's USD1 stablecoin instead.
- Are Bitcoin mining pools consolidating?
- Yes, Foundry USA is pulling hashrate away from China-linked pools like Antpool, F2Pool, and ViaBTC, partly because US miners are wary of sanctions risk and Bitmain's ties to Antpool.
- Which crypto custody companies are the most trusted?
- Fidelity Digital Assets and Zodia Custody stand out because they're backed by major financial institutions and licensed across multiple jurisdictions, which matters more to big investors than smaller independent custodians like the now-defunct Qredo.
- Why are so many crypto exchanges shutting down?
- Smaller exchanges like ProBit Global and DMM Bitcoin couldn't compete with larger licensed platforms on fees, security, or trust after hacks or losing users to bigger rivals like Binance, OKX, and Bybit.
- A named DEX or exchange drops below 5% market share in its own public volume rankings
- A stablecoin issuer loses its main exchange listing or promotional placement
- A mining pool's US-based hashrate share keeps rising while China-linked pools shrink
