Digital Turbine
Mobile ad platform that gets its software preloaded on carrier and OEM phones.
The phones still ship with its software installed, but the ad money that used to flow through it is increasingly flowing through AppLovin instead.
Digital Turbine puts ads on about a billion phones through phone companies and device makers, which is hard for others to copy because it has direct access to devices before they reach customers. But the company also runs an ad exchange and bidding system called AGP and DTX where it competes with AppLovin, a bigger rival that is winning market share by using AI to automatically create and optimize ads better than humans can. AppLovin already has AI tools that half of advertisers use, and it controls most of the iOS and Android ad-buying market. Digital Turbine's device partnership business is steady but slow-growing, while its faster-growing ad business is losing ground fast. The one thing that could save the picture is if Digital Turbine's device access becomes so valuable for AI training or personalization that advertisers have no choice but to use its platform despite AppLovin's better tools.
Federal Circuit ruling on ironSource v. Digital Turbine patent appeal (decided April 7, 2026). Would show whether a core on-device install patent survives challenge from a rival.
Any confirmed acquisition offer or buyer following the Simply Wall St takeover speculation. Would show whether outside investors see the moat as valuable enough to buy outright.

- Is Digital Turbine profitable in 2026?
- Digital Turbine posted a GAAP net loss of $37.7 million for fiscal 2026 (ended March 31, 2026), but non-GAAP adjusted net income was $64.9 million and adjusted EBITDA was $122.5 million, up 69% year over year, per its May 26, 2026 earnings release.
- Who is Digital Turbine's biggest competitor?
- AppLovin is Digital Turbine's dominant rival in mobile ad-tech, holding roughly 61.4% of iOS ad-network revenue and 39.5% of Android revenue in early 2026 per gamebizconsulting, with AI creative tools already used by about half of surveyed advertisers as of July 2026.
- Could AI replace Digital Turbine's ad business?
- AI is automating creative optimization and bidding across mobile ad-tech, a trend AppLovin has already monetized with shipped AI video tools. Digital Turbine's AGP/mediation segment faces this pressure directly, while its carrier/OEM on-device distribution (800M-1B devices) is harder for AI-native rivals to replicate.
