The call

Doodle survives on habit and name recognition while the free scheduling layer it built its business on gets absorbed into Google, Microsoft, and AI calendar agents.

Doodle is a website where people vote on meeting times instead of going back and forth with emails. The problem is that Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, and Teams already let you schedule meetings without leaving their apps, so switching to Doodle feels like extra work. The bigger threat is AI assistants that can read your calendar and book meetings by themselves, which would make polling for times completely unnecessary. The company tried an AI product called Time OS to stay relevant, but a competitor called Clockwise already tried that and failed, and Doodle's last AI bet (Meekan) died after they bought it. The one thing that could matter is if Doodle's new AI tool takes off when it fully launches and if its owner, TX Group, puts more money behind it, but that will take months or years to see.

Why
01
AI pressure: AI calendar agents from Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI. AI agents that read calendars and book meetings directly could remove the poll-and-vote step Doodle depends on entirely. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook/Teams. Both already offer built-in scheduling and are adding AI booking features, giving users no reason to leave their existing calendar app. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. A large existing user base and brand recognition built over 18 years, but no technical lock-in stops people from switching.

Questions people ask
Is Doodle profitable in 2026?
No reliable profitability figures exist. Revenue estimates range wildly from $750K (2018, Latka) to $24.9M (ZoomInfo, undated modeled estimate), and Doodle has never disclosed audited financials publicly, so profitability cannot be confirmed as of July 2026.
Who owns Doodle now?
Swiss media group TX Group (formerly Tamedia) owns Doodle. TX Group first bought a 49% stake in 2011 and, per Doodle's own blog, completed acquisition to 100% ownership as of June 30, 2026, with plans to keep investing in the platform.
Could AI replace Doodle's core product?
Doodle's poll-and-vote group scheduling is exactly the workflow AI calendar agents are built to eliminate by auto-reading calendars and booking meetings directly. Doodle's own prior AI bet, Meekan (acquired 2016), was shut down in 2019, and its new AI answer, Time OS, was still waitlist-only as of June 2026.
Is Doodle's biggest competitor Calendly?
Yes. Calendly held roughly 26.56% category market share and was reportedly used by 86% of Fortune 500 companies for some scheduling function as of June 29, 2026, per third-party comparison data, positioning it well ahead of Doodle in the scheduling category.
What is Doodle Time OS?
Time OS is Doodle's forthcoming AI-driven scheduling product, including a 'Time Agent' meant to autonomously create meetings and protect focus time by reading connected calendars. As of June 30, 2026, it remained in coming-soon/waitlist stage, not generally available.
Did a Doodle AI competitor fail recently?
Yes. Clockwise, an AI calendar-optimization competitor, reportedly shut down on March 27, 2026, according to Doodle's own blog post published July 15, 2026, signaling volatility in the AI-scheduling niche Doodle is entering with Time OS.
