WillItSurvive

Enterprise and productivity software

165 companies assessed. 110 of them, 66.7%, sit in the two least protected bands, against 53.3% across all 10,525 companies assessed.

The picture

Enterprise software right now splits cleanly between companies that own a deep, hard-to-rip-out system of record and everyone selling a single feature that a bigger platform can bolt on for free. SAP, ServiceNow, and Google Workspace keep low pressure scores because switching them means re-platforming a whole company, something AI features alone don't change. At the other end, tools built around one job, task boards, note apps, calendars, whiteboards, are getting swallowed by Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace bundling AI versions of the same feature at no extra cost. Zoom, Asana, Trello, Airtable, and Zapier all show this: decent products, real users, but shrinking room because the free alternative sits one click away inside software people already pay for. A second group has already died outright, Height, Almanac, InVision, Clockwise, Quip, and their former customers were absorbed by rivals shipping the same AI feature faster rather than by any dramatic technology shift. The one thing deciding survival is whether a company controls something sticky, sovereign data rules, regulated workflows, an operating system people run their business on, or whether it's a feature that a platform giant can copy and give away. Sovereignty and open-source niches (Nextcloud, Odoo, Obsidian, Cybozu) also hold up because their customers actively avoid the big bundlers.

Questions people ask
Will Microsoft 365 eventually replace most standalone productivity apps
That's the direction the pressure is moving in. Airtable, Zapier, Smartsheet, and Zoom are all losing ground specifically because Microsoft bundles a comparable AI-enabled feature into 365 at no extra cost, and named evidence shows Microsoft already sitting inside 80% of Fortune 100 accounts.
Is Notion going to survive the AI era
Notion currently shows no meaningful customer loss and holds a moat score of 6, though the shutdown of its Notion Mail product shows AI agents can bypass specific features even at a company that's otherwise stable.
Why are so many productivity startups shutting down in 2025 and 2026
Height, Almanac, InVision, Clockwise, Quip, Roam Research and Podio all lost out because larger rivals shipped the same AI feature faster or bundled it for free, not because of some single new technology. Height shut down in September 2025 and Clockwise followed in March 2026, both absorbed by direct competitors.
Is Zoom still a good business or is it losing to Teams
Zoom's own numbers show net revenue retention of 98.3%, meaning existing customers are shrinking their spend, and Microsoft Teams plus Google Meet, both bundled free into paid suites, are the named source of that pressure.
What enterprise software companies are safest from AI disruption
SAP, ServiceNow, and Google Workspace show the lowest pressure scores in the sector because they run core company operations or dominate at massive scale, and no rival has confirmed taking meaningful share from any of them yet.
Is Asana going to lose to Atlassian and Microsoft
Asana is growing 9% a year against Atlassian's 32%, and Microsoft's bundled Planner, Teams, and Copilot are named as directly absorbing the same work-management budget Asana competes for.
