The call

EaseMyTrip is a mid sized Indian travel booker caught between a bigger AI equipped rival and chat agents that could route travelers around it entirely.

EaseMyTrip sells plane tickets, hotel rooms, and travel insurance online in India, competing against MakeMyTrip, which controls about half the market. The company is getting harder to copy because of size and brand, but is harder to copy because ChatGPT and Google can now search flights and hotels directly, cutting out the middleman. The real test is whether EaseMyTrip's push into Dubai and non-flight travel can grow profits, not just sales, before MakeMyTrip or AI assistants squeeze it out.

Why
01
AI pressure: OpenAI ChatGPT and Google Gemini travel booking agents. ChatGPT and Gemini can search and book trips directly, pushing EaseMyTrip into a background supplier role. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: MakeMyTrip. MakeMyTrip holds roughly 50 to 60 percent of India's OTA market and runs its own AI assistant, Myra, with 50,000+ daily chats. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Its insurance license, franchise network, and low cost model keep it running, but rivals with more capital can copy all of it.
What would change this call
EaseMyTrip's Q1 FY27 results, due after July 2026, show whether losses deepen or shrink. Would show if Q4 FY26's loss was a floor or the start of a sustained decline.
Outcome of the ED investigation into Chairman Nishant Pitti tied to the Mahadev betting case. Would show whether governance risk resolves cleanly or escalates into charges.
Terms and pricing of the planned ₹500 crore fundraise once it closes. Would show whether dilution is punitive and whether funds target defensible assets.
