The call

The brand survives inside NTT DATA's scale, but its labor-heavy delivery model sits directly in the path of agentic AI, and post-privatization restructuring could reshape the unit before the AI pivot proves itself in revenue.

Everis (now part of NTT DATA) sells custom software development, testing, and back-office work mainly to banks and governments in Spain and Latin America. It is vulnerable because AI tools can already do much of what it charges for, and bigger rivals like Accenture are openly winning deals on AI transformation. The company's survival depends on whether its new AI practice actually brings in paying customers and keeps its staff, or whether its parent company's private restructuring cuts the cost-effective teams that make the business work.

Why
01
AI pressure: Agentic AI and coding agents (Gemini Enterprise, GitHub Copilot-class tools). Custom app development, testing, and BPO seats, the core of its revenue, are exactly what agents automate first. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Accenture, Capgemini, TCS, IBM, Infosys, Indra. Accenture alone books $64-70B and is explicitly winning AI-transformation mandates that used to go to firms like this. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Deep embedded contracts inside Spanish and LatAm banks and governments that are slow to switch vendors, plus NTT's balance sheet.
What would change this call
NTT Group announces restructuring or layoffs in NTT DATA EMEAL within 18 months of the Sept 2025 delisting. Would show post-privatization pressure compressing the near-shore delivery layer, weakening the unit.
Gemini Enterprise practice (5,000 experts, 500 agents) shows booked revenue growth by Q1 2027. Would show the AI pivot is converting to real revenue, not just marketing metrics.
Accenture, TCS, or Indra announce a major win displacing NTT DATA in a Spanish or LatAm government or banking contract. Would show direct customer loss to named rivals in Everis's core embedded markets.

Questions people ask
Does Everis still exist as a separate company?
No. Everis was formally rebranded and merged into NTT DATA, with the legal name change completed October 21, 2021, dissolving the brand across the 17 countries it operated in. Its former Spain/LatAm business now sits inside NTT DATA EMEAL, launched September 14, 2021 with about 38,000 employees and roughly 3 billion euros revenue.
Who owns Everis (NTT DATA) now?
NTT DATA Corporation acquired Everis, completing the deal January 28, 2014. The wider parent, NTT DATA Group Corporation, was then taken fully private by NTT, Inc. in a 2.37 trillion yen (about 16.5 billion dollar) buyout, delisting from the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market on September 26, 2025.
Could AI replace the work Everis used to do under NTT DATA?
Everis's historic core lines, custom app development, systems integration, testing and lower-tier outsourcing/BPO, are explicitly flagged as the labor-intensive workflows most exposed to agentic AI automation, per NTT DATA's own June 2026 HFS Horizons agentic services materials. The AI-practice pivot (Gemini Enterprise, 500 agents target) is early-stage as of June 2026, not proven revenue protection.
Is NTT DATA (former Everis parent) profitable?
No standalone Everis profitability exists post-2021. Its SAP-focused sibling unit, NTT DATA Business Solutions, reported an EBITA margin of 7.5% on 1.850 billion euros revenue for FY2024/25, with 18,582 employees as of December 31, 2025, per company financial disclosures.
Who is Everis's biggest competitor in Spain and Latin America?
Indra is the Spain-native direct rival for the legacy Everis market. Globally, the successor NTT DATA also competes with Accenture ($64-70B scale), Capgemini, TCS, and IBM Consulting, all named alongside NTT DATA in the March 2026 PAC RADAR SAP Systems Integration Leaders ranking.
Is it risky to join NTT DATA's former Everis units (EMEAL) right now?
There is real near-term restructuring risk: NTT DATA Group's parent was fully privatized and delisted from Tokyo Stock Exchange on September 26, 2025, and the AI-driven repricing of labor-intensive delivery work (app dev, testing, BPO, the old Everis core) is actively underway as of mid-2026.
