The call

Fuse still sits inside a hard-to-copy agent and insurer network, but four and a half years of funding silence and shrinking headcount leave its staying power unclear.

Fuse is a platform that lets thousands of insurance agents in Indonesia sell policies from dozens of insurance companies through one app, instead of switching between separate systems. It is hard to copy because it has built trust with agents and insurance partners at the same time, and big insurance companies cannot easily build it themselves without upsetting their existing agent networks; also, AI alone cannot replace Fuse because people in Indonesia still need human agents to understand insurance and build trust. The one thing that could change everything is whether Fuse gets new funding or sells itself in the next 12 months, because the company has not raised money since 2021, has lost about 40 percent of its staff, and has not shipped a new product in a year and a half, while competitors like Qoala are actively building and getting funded.

Why
01
AI pressure: Agentic AI tools for policy matching, KYC, and claims intake. AI-native rivals could ship agent-assist tools faster than Fuse, which has shown no public AI feature in 18 months. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Qoala and PasarPolis. Both rivals raised fresh capital in 2025 and keep shipping while Fuse has gone quiet on funding and launches since late 2021. Could a giant copy it? No, they are blocked.
03
What protects it. A three-sided network of 60,000 plus agents, 30 to 40 insurers, and embedded partners that traditional insurers can't copy without channel conflict.
What would change this call
Fuse announces a new priced funding round in the next 6-12 months. Would show investors still back the company despite 4.5 years of silence.
Fuse discloses a formal layoff, distress sale, or acquisition. Would confirm financial distress behind the headcount contraction.
Fuse ships and dates a new AI-assisted agent or claims feature publicly. Would show it is keeping pace with AI-native rivals rather than stalling.

Questions people ask
Is Fuse still raising money as of 2026?
No confirmed round since December 2021, when Fuse closed a $25M Series B extension. As of mid 2026 that is over 4.5 years without a publicly disclosed funding event, the longest gap in the company's history.
Has Fuse had layoffs?
No formal layoff announcement exists, but tracked headcount fell from a 2021 peak of 460+ employees to about 267 by June 2026 per Crustdata, a roughly 40 percent contraction consistent with quiet attrition rather than an announced cut.
Could AI replace Fuse's agent network?
AI can automate policy matching, KYC, and claims intake, described as table stakes industry wide by 2026. But Fuse's 60,000 to 100,000 human agents provide trust based education in a low insurance penetration market that pure software struggles to replicate quickly.
Who is Fuse's biggest competitor in Indonesia?
Qoala and PasarPolis are the most active rivals. Qoala reportedly closed a $47M Series C in February 2025 per an industry report, and PasarPolis pursued a 2025 extension round, both while Fuse has disclosed no funding since December 2021.
Who owns Fuse and is it profitable?
Fuse is privately held and venture backed, founded 2017 by Andy Yeung and Ivan Sunandar, with investors including East Ventures, GGV Capital, and Emtek. No profitability or cash flow data has been disclosed in any source found through mid 2026.
Has Fuse shipped any AI features?
No verifiable AI feature launch has been found. CEO Andy Yeung said in 2022 the company was 'actively exploring' AI, blockchain, and big data for underwriting and claims, but no dated, shipped product has been confirmed as of mid 2026.
