The call

A former $1.2B unicorn now negotiating its own sale for tens of millions, with NVIDIA and Ambarella already shipping into the same edge AI slots it needed to win.

Hailo designs chips that run artificial intelligence programs on phones and devices instead of sending data to the cloud. The company raised about $340 million but never made enough money to survive on its own, and companies bought fewer of these chips than Hailo expected. Bigger chip makers like NVIDIA, Qualcomm, and Ambarella already sell similar products and are taking market share, so Hailo's technology is not rare or hard to replace. The one thing that could save the company is if it gets bought by another chipmaker before its money runs out in January 2027, or if its new push into robotics AI suddenly starts selling.

Why
01
AI pressure: NVIDIA Jetson edge AI platform. NVIDIA already holds around 92% of AI inference silicon, leaving little room for Hailo's edge chips to gain paying customers. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Qualcomm Snapdragon and Ambarella edge AI chips. Ambarella alone ships 42M+ edge AI units and turns 80% of revenue from the category Hailo is trying to break into. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Existing design wins with Raspberry Pi, Husqvarna, Schneider Electric, Dell, and ABB give it some real deployments to point to.
What would change this call
Whether the July 2026 'advanced talks' acquisition by an unnamed Nasdaq chipmaker closes before January 2027. Shows if Hailo survives as a going concern or is absorbed for assets only.
Whether Hailo reports any new Physical AI/robotics revenue before its bridge loan deadline. Would indicate the pivot away from edge-AI is gaining real customer traction.
Delek Automotive's financial statements showing the size of its NIS 197M Hailo stake write-off. Confirms the real market value assigned to Hailo versus its $1.2B 2024 peak.

Questions people ask
Is Hailo profitable in 2026?
No. Hailo has never disclosed profitability or revenue figures. By July 2026 it was in a cash crisis, having cut nearly half its staff and accepted a January 2026 emergency $9M bridge loan from Delek Automotive at escalating interest rates, forcing an urgent sale or liquidity event.
Is Hailo being acquired?
As of July 15, 2026, a Nasdaq-listed US chipmaker was in advanced talks to buy Hailo for just 'tens of millions of dollars,' a fraction of its $1.2B April 2024 valuation. Earlier, an April 2026 report described a planned SPAC merger at under $500M instead.
Who owns Hailo?
Hailo is privately held, backed by investors including Poalim Equity, the Zisapel family, Alfred Akirov, Gil Agmon, OurCrowd, Talcar and Delek Automotive, which holds a 12.1% stake as of April 2026 and plans to write off most of its roughly NIS 197M investment.
Could NVIDIA or Qualcomm replace Hailo's chips?
Likely pressure exists: NVIDIA's Jetson line and Qualcomm's Snapdragon already compete in the same low-power edge-AI niches, and independent reviewers as of June 2026 rated Hailo-10's LLM support as 'preview-ish' compared to Jetson Orin and Apple Silicon.
Who is Hailo's biggest competitor?
Ambarella is the closest direct rival, a publicly traded company with edge AI making up over 80% of its sales and a large installed base as of January 2026, while NVIDIA Jetson and Qualcomm Snapdragon dominate the broader edge-AI ecosystem Hailo competes in.
What is Hailo's current valuation?
Hailo's valuation fell from $1.2B in April 2024 to under $500M by April 2026 ahead of a planned SPAC merger, and by July 2026 it was reportedly in talks to be sold for just 'tens of millions of dollars.'
