The call

HammerTech is locked into big contractors through contracts and compliance data, but its future rides on whether Procore keeps choosing to partner instead of compete.

HammerTech makes safety tracking and compliance software for construction companies. It is hard to replace right now because its customers have multi-year contracts, use it to follow local rules, and have woven it into their day-to-day work alongside Procore, the giant project-management tool they also rely on. The big risk is that Procore, which already offers its own safety module and currently partners with HammerTech, could decide to build its safety tools much better and deeper, which would leave HammerTech without a reason to exist. A second threat is that basic AI tools for reading photos and transcribing voice could eventually do much of what HammerTech's AI does, making the company less unique. The one thing that could protect HammerTech is if Procore stays committed to the partnership and chooses not to compete, but that is a choice, not a law of nature.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generic LLM-based transcription and image tools. AI can extract structured safety data cheaply, which could commoditize the paperwork layer HammerTech charges for. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Procore. Procore already has its own safety module and today just partners via HammerTech Sync, but could build deeper safety features and cut HammerTech out. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Multi-year contracts with big general contractors like PCL, plus jurisdiction-specific recordkeeping that is hard to rip out mid-project.
What would change this call
Procore announces or ships a native jurisdiction-aware safety module beyond HammerTech Sync. Would show Procore shifting from partner to direct competitor in safety.
Procore acquires Raken, SiteDocs, or another safety vendor within 12 months. Would confirm Procore is building an in-house safety alternative to HammerTech.
HammerTech publishes independent safety-outcome data backing its 'largest dataset' claim. Would verify the private-data moat rather than leave it vendor-asserted.
Key numbers
  • Raised $70M growth round led by Riverwood Capital (2024-07-15)
  • 1,000+ customers, 50,000+ projects tracked (2026)
  • 168 employees per PitchBook (2026)
Named risks
  • Procore could ship a deep native safety module and end the HammerTech Sync partnership. Severity: high
  • Generic LLM transcription and image-recognition tools could commoditize HammerTech's structured data extraction features. Severity: medium
  • Core moat claims like 'largest construction safety dataset globally' are vendor-claimed and not independently verified. Severity: medium
  • No disclosed revenue or profitability data makes financial health hard to assess independently. Severity: medium
  • Founding year and headcount figures conflict across sources, indicating weak public data quality. Severity: low

Questions people ask
Is HammerTech profitable in 2026?
HammerTech is privately held and discloses no audited revenue or profitability figures. Third-party estimates (Growjo, Datanyze) put revenue around $21-23M but are unverified. As of its January 2026 CB Insights profile it is classed 'Private Equity, Alive,' with no public profitability data.
Who owns HammerTech?
HammerTech is backed by Arrowroot Capital, which led a $10M Series A in April 2019, and Riverwood Capital, which led a $70M growth round on July 15, 2024. Both firms hold board seats; total disclosed funding is about $80.5M as of January 2026.
Could AI replace HammerTech?
HammerTech has layered generative AI (HammerTech Intelligence, launched July 8, 2025) onto its own platform for transcription and hazard extraction, built on unspecified third-party foundation models. Its moat is enterprise workflow lock-in and compliance data, not the AI itself, so generic AI tools threaten commoditization of data extraction rather than the whole platform.
Who is HammerTech's biggest competitor?
Procore is the biggest adjacent threat: it dominates construction project management and has its own safety module, though as of October 2025 it chose to deepen integration via 'HammerTech Sync' rather than compete directly. SafetyCulture, valued at about $2.7B in a 2024 raise, is the closest direct rival in safety software.
How much money has HammerTech raised?
HammerTech has raised roughly $80.5M total across two disclosed rounds as of January 2026: a $10M Series A led by Arrowroot Capital in April 2019, and a $70M (A$105M) growth round led by Riverwood Capital on July 15, 2024, earmarked for AI and US expansion.
Will Procore build its own competing safety product and drop HammerTech?
As of October 10, 2025, Procore deepened its integration with HammerTech via 'HammerTech Sync' rather than building a competing native safety module, with a Gray Construction case study published jointly. This partnership is not structurally locked in and could reverse if Procore's product strategy shifts.
