The call

Han's Laser's 2025 surge tracks the AI-capex build-out in PCB and packaging equipment, the same kind of cycle that cut its revenue 5.82% in 2023.

Han's Laser is a Chinese company that builds lasers used to cut, mark, and weld materials in factories and now in computer chip and circuit board manufacturing. The company has been around for 30 years, owns many of its own suppliers, and employs thousands of engineers, which makes it hard for new competitors to catch up. However, the main question is whether the recent explosion in orders (up 27 to 74 percent depending on the product) is real demand that will keep growing because of artificial intelligence servers and electronics, or just a temporary rush like the company has seen before, when orders suddenly dropped by 6 percent in 2023. If the boom is temporary, Han's Laser could see orders fall again, which would hurt the stock more than if demand actually keeps growing.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI data-center buildout is feeding Han's Laser, not eating it: PCB and advanced-packaging equipment orders drove the 2025 growth spike. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: TRUMPF Group (Germany). TRUMPF already competes globally in the same laser-equipment categories with roughly 8.8% world share, pressuring Han's on high-end machines. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. In-house component and optics manufacturing, over 7,400 patents, and 6,600+ R&D staff make copying its full product line slow and costly.

Named risks
  • AI-infrastructure capex slowdown could reverse PCB/advanced-packaging equipment order growth. Severity: high
  • Semiconductor equipment exposure creates latent US export-control (BIS Entity List) risk. Severity: medium
  • Extreme share price volatility, 52-week range CNY 25.99 to 168.08 (6.5x). Severity: medium
  • Domestic low-cost rivals (HGTECH, Bodor, Hymson) erode low-end market share. Severity: medium
  • Reduced foreign investor access since 2019 Stock Connect removal limits capital flexibility. Severity: low

Questions people ask
Is Han's Laser profitable in 2026?
Yes. For FY2025 (year ended Dec 31, 2025) Han's Laser reported net profit excluding non-recurring items of CNY 810 million, up 82.28% YoY, on record revenue of roughly CNY 18.7 billion (USD 2.67 billion), per its April 21, 2026 annual results release.
Who owns Han's Laser Technology?
Han's Laser is publicly traded on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange under ticker 002008, listed via IPO in 2004. It was founded on November 18, 1996 by Gao Yunfeng, a former Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics lecturer, who lost and regained control in 2001.
Who is Han's Laser's biggest competitor?
TRUMPF Group of Germany is the global laser processing leader with an estimated 8.8% market share in 2024; Han's Laser ranks among the top five global players alongside TRUMPF, Coherent, IPG Photonics and Amada, per a laser processing equipment market report dated August 31, 2025.
Could AI replace Han's Laser's business?
No. Han's Laser makes physical laser and CNC manufacturing equipment, a business AI software cannot replicate. Instead, AI-driven demand for PCB and advanced-packaging gear for servers and switches pushed its PCB equipment revenue up 72.68% YoY in FY2025 (year ended Dec 31, 2025).
Is Han's Laser hiring or laying off staff in 2026?
Hiring, not layoffs. Headcount reached 20,961 employees as of December 31, 2025, up 4,095 (+24.28%) from 16,866 a year earlier, according to stockanalysis.com data published December 30, 2025, coinciding with the company's revenue surge.
Is Han's Laser's recent growth sustainable or a bubble?
Unclear from a single quarter. Q1 2026 revenue rose 74.44% YoY to CNY 5.13 billion, but FY2023 revenue had fallen 5.82% to CNY 14.09 billion during an industrial-laser demand slump, showing the business has swung sharply between growth and contraction before.
