The call

Ripple Prime has real licenses and real volume, but its equity value now rides on Ripple and XRP, not on the brokerage alone.

Hidden Road (now called Ripple Prime) handles huge trades for large financial firms and is actually making money, with real government licenses that took years to get. Its main rival is Coinbase Prime, which already controls most of the bitcoin and ethereum storage for U.S. customers and is launching a new trading tool in 2026 that could steal Hidden Road's customers. The real problem is that Hidden Road is owned by Ripple, a company whose worth bounces up and down based on the price of XRP, a cryptocurrency, so even if Hidden Road's business stays strong, owning Ripple stock means betting on crypto prices instead of betting on a solid business.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. This is a regulated clearing and margin business; AI models don't hold broker-dealer licenses or clearinghouse memberships. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: Coinbase Prime. Coinbase Prime already runs ~$350B in assets and most US bitcoin ETF custody, and its Unified Cross-Margin launch in March 2026 targets the multi-asset clients Ripple Prime wants. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Licenses across SEC, CFTC, FINRA, SIPC, CME and FICC took years to build and block fast copycats, even from well-funded rivals.

  • Equity exposure is Ripple stock, not standalone Hidden Road equity, tying investors to crypto volatility. Severity: medium

Questions people ask
Is Hidden Road (Ripple Prime) profitable?
Yes. Ripple stated on October 23, 2025 that the former Hidden Road business, rebranded Ripple Prime after its $1.25B acquisition closed, became profitable in 2025 with revenue tripling year over year (vendor-claimed).
Who owns Hidden Road now?
Ripple Labs owns it. Ripple announced a $1.25 billion acquisition of Hidden Road on April 7, 2025, closed it October 23, 2025, and rebranded the business Ripple Prime, operating as Hidden Road Partners CIV US LLC.
Is joining Ripple Prime (Hidden Road) a safe career move?
KBRA/Kroll assigned Ripple Prime's holding and operating entities a BBB investment-grade senior unsecured debt rating with stable outlook, reaffirmed July 8, 2026, backed by roughly $500M in Ripple capital already injected plus a further $500M planned for 2026.
Who is Ripple Prime's biggest competitor?
Coinbase Prime, which held roughly $350B in assets under custody and custodied over 80% of U.S. bitcoin/ether ETF assets as of April 21, 2026, when its executive publicly claimed to be crypto's only full-service prime broker.
Could AI replace Ripple Prime (formerly Hidden Road)?
Unlikely to fully replace it. Its moat rests on regulatory licenses (SEC broker-dealer, CFTC FCM, FINRA/SIPC, CME, FICC memberships confirmed as of July 8, 2026) and balance-sheet backing, though back-office margin, reconciliation and reporting work is AI-automatable.
What is Hidden Road's exposure to XRP price swings?
High. KBRA's July 8, 2026 rating report flagged that parent Ripple's revenue and capital position, including roughly $5B cash and over 40 billion XRP held as of Q3 2025, are heavily tied to XRP price, with a prolonged downturn cited as a risk.
