The call

Hyper is a new, unproven layer sitting between two much bigger forces: Glean's enterprise search and native memory features from the AI labs it depends on.

Hyper makes software that gives AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT the ability to remember information between conversations. The problem is that Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other AI tools are now building memory directly into their own products, so customers may not need Hyper at all. Glean, a company that already works with enterprises, has also released competing memory tools. The one thing that could save Hyper is if it becomes so deeply woven into customer work that switching away becomes painful, but right now there is no sign of that happening.

Why
01
AI pressure: Anthropic Claude Cowork, OpenAI ChatGPT memory, Cursor, GitHub Copilot. Frontier labs are adding native persistent memory to their own agents, which could remove the need for a separate context layer like Hyper. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Glean. Glean already published an MCP context layer benchmark against Claude Cowork in May 2026, competing directly in Hyper's space with enterprise reach. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Only early, unsigned design pilots with Razorpay and Snorkel AI, plus founder speed, nothing else visible yet.
What would change this call
Anthropic, OpenAI, or Cursor ships persistent cross-session company memory as a first-party feature by late 2026. Would remove the need for Hyper's third-party context layer.
Razorpay or Snorkel AI sign and renew a paid contract with Hyper past the pilot stage. Would show real customer lock-in rather than an unsigned pilot.
Glean reports enterprise adoption growth for its MCP context-layer product through 2026. Would show the incumbent capturing the same market Hyper targets.
Key numbers
  • Glean shipped MCP context benchmark vs Claude Cowork (2026-05-12)
  • Hyper reached about $1,000 MRR 12 days post-launch (2026-05-11)
  • Hyper onboarded 50+ teams 12 days post-launch (2026-05-11)
Named risks
  • No proprietary data, exclusive integration, or lock-in; connector breadth is easily replicated. Severity: high
  • Frontier labs shipping native persistent memory could eliminate need for a third-party context layer. Severity: high
  • SOC 2 Type II, CASA Tier 2, and ISO 27001 certifications still in progress as of May 2026, blocking regulated buyers. Severity: medium
  • Traction figures (50+ teams, $1,000 MRR) are self-reported and unaudited. Severity: medium
  • Crowded category with near-simultaneous YC launches (Hyperspell, Memory Store) risks fast commoditization. Severity: medium

Questions people ask
Is Hyper profitable in 2026?
No. Hyper is a pre-seed YC P26 startup that claims (vendor-reported, unverified) growth from $0 to about $1,000 MRR within 12 days of its May 11, 2026 launch. That is far from profitability, and no independently audited revenue figures exist as of mid-2026.
Could AI replace Hyper's product?
Yes, plausibly. Hyper's core offering is itself an AI retrieval/synthesis/memory layer, and frontier labs (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI ChatGPT, Cursor) are building native persistent memory directly into their agents, while Glean shipped a competing MCP context-layer benchmark on 2026-05-12, threatening to absorb Hyper's niche.
Who is Hyper's biggest competitor?
Glean, the well-funded enterprise AI search incumbent, is the most significant threat: it published an MCP-based context-layer benchmark against Claude Cowork on 2026-05-12. Hyper also faces near-identical YC rivals Hyperspell and Memory Store, both launched the same month.
Has Hyper raised funding?
No confirmed priced round, valuation, or lead investor has been verified for the company-brain Hyper as of July 2026. A $6.3M seed tied to the heyhyper.ai domain actually belongs to an unrelated 911-call-screening startup acquired by Motorola Solutions in April 2026.
Does Hyper have any enterprise customers?
Hyper says (vendor-claimed, unconfirmed) it was scoping paid design pilots with Razorpay and Snorkel AI as of May 11, 2026, but no signed or renewing contracts have been independently confirmed, and no other customer logos are documented.
What makes Hyper different from Glean?
Little that is documented. Hyper positions itself as a lighter-weight 'company brain' connecting docs, Slack, GitHub, Notion and coding tools into a knowledge graph, but Glean, the incumbent enterprise AI search leader, shipped its own MCP context-layer benchmark on 2026-05-12 covering similar ground with far greater resources.
