The call

Immutable has real users and partners on paper, but revenue is collapsing and almost all activity depends on one game, leaving little room for error.

Immutable makes tools to help game companies launch blockchain games and find players. The problem is that five other gaming platforms (Ronin, Polygon, Base, SKALE, Oasys) do similar things, and giant companies like Steam and Epic Games can build their own tools or copy Immutable's ideas. Immutable's revenue fell from roughly $105 million to $25 million in one year, and almost all of its gaming activity came from a single game. The company is betting on an AI platform called AVALON to find and keep players, but big AI companies like OpenAI and Claude can probably do that too, or game publishers can just build it themselves. The one thing that could matter: if AVALON actually brings in 10 million real, loyal players by 2026, it would prove Immutable has something unique worth defending.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI does not directly attack the blockchain layer, but Immutable's own pivot to AI growth tools (AVALON) faces frontier models replicating the same analytics. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Steam, Epic Games Store, and rival L2s Ronin, Polygon, Base. Publishers can route around Immutable using Steam or Epic, while Ronin and Polygon compete for the same small pool of blockchain game studios. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. 680+ signed games, 5.6 to 6 million Passport users, and enterprise ties to Ubisoft and GameStop give it a head start, even as usage stays thin.

Questions people ask
Is Immutable profitable in 2026?
No profitability has been disclosed. Third-party estimates from Latka put Immutable's 2025 revenue at roughly $24.6M, down from an estimated $105M in 2024, a modeled decline of about 75 percent as of December 21, 2025.
Who owns Immutable?
Immutable is privately held and venture backed, founded 2018 by Robbie Ferguson, James Ferguson and Alex Connolly. Its March 2022 Series C of $200M was led by Temasek with Tencent and Animoca Brands, valuing the company at $2.5 to 3.5B.
Who is Immutable's biggest competitor?
Immutable competes directly with Ronin, Polygon, Base, SKALE and Oasys as gaming focused blockchain layers, while Steam and Epic Games Store represent incumbent distribution platforms that publishers could use instead of adopting Immutable's tools.
Could AI replace what Immutable sells?
Immutable's own 2026 pivot to Immutable AI and the AVALON beta platform packages player acquisition analytics and launch planning that frontier AI models or in-house publisher teams could plausibly replicate, since the tooling is largely analytics and marketing automation rather than proprietary infrastructure.
What happened to the IMX token in 2026?
IMX traded around $0.113 to $0.129 in July 2026, down 77 to 98.6 percent from its 2021 all-time high near $9.50. Coinbase delisted IMX perpetual futures on June 4, 2026, and the full 2B token supply became unlocked in late 2025.
How concentrated is Immutable's revenue?
As of Q1 2025, a single title, Guild of Guardians, accounted for 99 percent of Immutable's NFT sales volume, according to a June 2026 industry writeup, indicating heavy reliance on one game despite 680 plus titles built on the platform.
