The call

IndMoney holds real licenses and growing revenue but sits well behind Groww and Zerodha in active users, with no new funding since 2022.

IndMoney lets Indian investors buy and sell stocks and mutual funds through its app. It has real licenses from regulators that are hard to get, but every other licensed broker has them too, so that does not make it stand out. Zerodha is much bigger and more profitable, just started selling U.S. stocks, and Jio Financial has 25 million users it can push the service to, so IndMoney is fighting larger competitors with deeper pockets. The biggest thing that could change the picture is whether Zerodha's U.S. stocks service actually launches smoothly in early 2026, because if it does, IndMoney loses one of its few reasons to exist.

Why
01
AI pressure: Claude and other general AI assistants pulling data via IndMoney's own MCP tool and unofficial scrapers. AI assistants can already summarize a user's net worth and holdings, chipping at the insights layer IndMoney charges for. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Zerodha. Zerodha is applying for a merchant banking license for 2026 and has a US-stocks product in the works that could match IndMoney's GIFT City edge. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. SEBI broker and depository licenses plus an IFSCA Global Access Provider license at GIFT City that most rivals do not hold yet.
What would change this call
IndMoney announces a new priced funding round (any valuation) by mid-2027. Shows whether investors still back it at growth prices or force a down-round.
Zerodha's US-stock product ships and gains visible user adoption in India. Would erode IndMoney's main differentiator versus larger rivals.
IndMoney FY26 ROC filings (due late 2026) show operating revenue growth rate. Tests whether 2.3x FY25 growth continues or slows under competition.
Key numbers
  • Operating revenue grew 2.3x to Rs 164 crore in FY25 (2026-01)
  • Groww holds ~26.6% and Zerodha ~16.25% of active broking clients (2025-11-04)
  • First India platform licensed as GIFT City Global Access Provider (2026-06-05)
Named risks
  • No priced funding round since March 2022, raising re-pricing or down-round risk. Severity: high
  • SEBI derivatives curbs already cut peer Zerodha's revenue 11.5% in FY25, similarly exposing IndMoney's F&O broking. Severity: medium
  • Zerodha's pending US-stock launch and merchant-banking application could erode IndMoney's GIFT City differentiation. Severity: high
  • Aggregation and insights layer increasingly replicable by AI assistants and unofficial MCP scrapers. Severity: medium
  • Headcount growth has stalled to ~2.5% YoY, signaling constrained hiring and possible cash discipline. Severity: low

Questions people ask
Is IndMoney profitable in 2026?
No. IndMoney posted a cash loss of about 76 crore rupees in FY25 (year to March 2025), widening from 32 crore in FY24, even as operating revenue rose 2.3x to 164 crore rupees, per Entrackr's 2026 report.
Who is IndMoney's biggest competitor?
Groww and Zerodha. Groww leads Indian retail broking with about 26.6% active-client share versus Zerodha's 16.25% as of late 2025 (Economic Times, 2025-11-04), while IndMoney remains a smaller challenger despite recently overtaking Paytm Money.
When did IndMoney last raise funding?
IndMoney's last priced round closed in March 2022, a roughly 11 million dollar Series D-II tranche following its January 2022 Series D at a ~640 to 650 million dollar valuation. As of July 2026, no new priced round has followed, per Crustdata.
Could AI replace IndMoney's app?
Its aggregation and insight features are exposed to AI commoditization; IndMoney itself built an MCP server for Claude in 2024, and third-party developers built unofficial scrapers in 2026. But its SEBI broker and depository-participant licenses keep custody and execution outside AI's reach.
Does IndMoney let users trade US stocks?
Yes. In August 2025 IndMoney became the first Indian platform to offer US stock access via GIFT City after being licensed in June 2025 as an IFSCA Global Access Provider, charging 0.25% per trade with no account fees.
What is IndMoney's revenue in FY25?
IndMoney's operating revenue jumped 2.3x year-over-year to about 164 crore rupees in FY25 (year to March 2025), with total revenue near 213 to 214 crore rupees, up 67%, per Entrackr's 2026 reporting.
