The call

Iterable has real customer lock-in but no fresh funding since 2021, flat hiring, and a much bigger rival matching its AI features feature for feature.

Iterable helps companies send personalized messages to customers across email, SMS, and other channels by using data about how those customers behave. The company has real advantages: it stores customer data directly in a warehouse (making it harder to pull that data out), it knows how to handle SMS compliance rules that trip up newer tools, and customers have locked in years of workflow. But Braze, which is three times bigger and publicly traded, shipped the same artificial intelligence features in April 2026 and keeps adding more. Salesforce and Adobe already sit inside many companies, so they can push their own messaging tools. The one thing that could turn this around: if Iterable wins back share from Braze in a major account or raises new funding that signals a real plan, rather than just staying flat.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generic LLM/agent tools for segmentation, copywriting, send-time optimization. AI agents can write and time campaigns without Iterable, but customer behavioral data lock-in and warehouse integrations slow the bleed. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Braze. Braze is 3x Iterable's size, public, and shipped its own agentic suite (BrazeAI Operator) one day after Iterable's rival launch in April 2026. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Deep data warehouse integrations and SMS compliance tooling make ripping Iterable out costly and slow for enterprise customers.
What would change this call
Iterable announces a new funding round, down-round, or acquisition within 12 months. Would show whether flat $2B valuation since 2021 is holding or breaking down.
Iterable's open job postings and headcount move beyond the current 2 open roles. Would show whether hiring caution is easing or company is in a defensive holding pattern.
Braze reports named-account wins against Iterable in its Q3/Q4 2026 earnings calls. Would show whether Braze's agentic suite is actively converting Iterable's enterprise customers.

Questions people ask
Is Iterable profitable in 2026?
Profitability is not disclosed. Iterable reported roughly 240 million dollars ARR as of a November 27, 2025 estimate with about 20 percent YoY growth, but no profit figures have been published, and it has not raised funding since its June 2021 Series E.
Who owns Iterable?
Iterable is privately held and venture backed, with no IPO. Its Series E in June 2021 was led by Viking Global Investors with Silver Lake, Adams Street Partners, CRV, DTCP, Delta-v Capital and Glynn Capital, valuing it around 2 billion dollars.
Could AI replace Iterable?
Iterable's own segmentation, send-time optimization, and copywriting workflows are exactly what generic AI agents target, but its behavioral data lock-in and warehouse integrations (Snowflake Elite Partner, Databricks Validated Partner, as of June 22, 2026) give it defensible ground rather than full exposure.
Is Braze bigger than Iterable?
Yes. A third-party comparison site estimated Braze's ARR at about 693 million dollars as of May 22, 2026, versus Iterable's roughly 240 million dollar ARR estimate from November 2025, making Braze roughly three times larger and publicly traded.
What is Iterable's biggest competitor?
Braze is Iterable's closest and most pressing rival, a publicly traded company roughly three times its size that shipped its own agentic AI suite, BrazeAI Operator, on April 23, 2026, one day after Iterable's Nova Agent reached general availability.
Has Iterable laid off employees?
No layoffs are documented in current sourcing. Headcount trackers show roughly flat-to-modest movement: Revelio Labs counted 728 employees in December 2025, down from a 2023 peak of 777 but up 9.9 percent from 660 in 2024.
