The call

KLN remains a profitable top-7 global forwarder with real warehouse assets, but Amazon and a bigger DSV are both now competing directly on its core lanes.

Kerry Logistics moves cargo and freight around the world, operating massive warehouses across Asia and handling about 56 billion dollars in annual business. It is hard to replace because it owns real buildings and warehouse space spread across the region, but two big threats are squeezing it: DSV, a competitor that just bought a huge rival called DB Schenker and became the world's largest shipping company, and Amazon, which now moves more packages than Kerry on the China to United States shipping route. The company makes very thin profits (about 2.5 cents on every dollar), so if DSV cuts prices or if artificial intelligence starts handling shipping paperwork that Kerry's workers do now, Kerry could face real trouble, but it might survive by shifting to higher-paying work like moving factory equipment or medical supplies instead of competing on cheap container shipping.

Why
01
AI pressure: AI-driven freight brokerage platforms (e.g. Flexport, project44). Automated quoting and booking tools threaten to compress the low-margin brokerage layer KLN still relies on for volume. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: DSV (post-DB Schenker acquisition, April 2025). DSV is now the largest global forwarder and is integrating Schenker's network, pressuring pricing on lanes KLN also serves. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. 58 million sq ft of Asia warehouse space, SF Holding's China network, and long-standing customs licenses across 58 countries.

DSV-DB Schenker integration milestones and pricing moves on Asia-Europe/US lanes through 2026. Shows whether the merged rival is using scale to undercut KLN on price.
Whether Amazon's NVO volume lead spreads from the transpacific lane to China-EU or other routes. Shows whether Amazon's threat is a one-lane blip or a broader structural shift.
Key numbers
  • FY2025 revenue over HK$56bn (2025-12-31)
  • Amazon NVO passed KLN by ~20 TEU on China-US lane (2026-04-22)
  • Ranked #7 global freight forwarder (2026-05-14)
Named risks
  • Thin ~2.5% margins leave little buffer against DSV-Schenker pricing pressure on shared lanes. Severity: high
  • Transpacific share loss to Amazon NVO flagged as structural could spread beyond China-US lane. Severity: high
  • Agentic AI automating rate-quoting and document processing could compress commodity forwarding margins industry-wide. Severity: medium
  • Multiple 2026 executive changes (CFO, CHRO, COO promotion) during KLN 2.0 rollout could disrupt strategic continuity. Severity: medium

Questions people ask
Is Kerry Logistics (KLN) profitable in 2026?
Yes. KLN reported FY2025 revenue over HK$56 billion with continued growth in core net profit as of 31 December 2025, and TTM figures to 30 June 2026 show HK$56.34bn revenue against HK$1.41bn net income, per KLN's own results announcements.
Who owns Kerry Logistics / KLN now?
SF Holding, parent of China's largest courier SF Express, acquired a controlling 51.8% stake in Kerry Logistics via a HK$17.6 billion (about US$2.3bn) partial tender offer completed in September 2021, making KLN part of the SF Holding logistics ecosystem.
Is Amazon beating Kerry Logistics on China-US shipping?
On the transpacific lane specifically, yes: Amazon's NVO ocean volumes edged past KLN's by roughly 20 TEU in Q1 2026 per bill-of-lading data reported 22 April 2026, a shift one industry executive called structural rather than a one-off.
Could AI replace jobs at Kerry Logistics / KLN?
KLN has deployed KOOLBee sorting robots since May 2023 for e-commerce fulfilment, showing automation is already in use for warehouse tasks, but its 58 million sq ft physical network and customs relationships across 58 countries are harder for software-only AI to replicate as of 2026.
Is DSV a bigger threat to KLN than before?
Yes. DSV completed a €14.3 billion acquisition of DB Schenker on 30 April 2025, becoming the largest global freight forwarder and outscaling KLN, which ranked #7 globally on Armstrong & Associates' 2026 list versus DSV's now-larger combined network.
Did Kerry Logistics change its name?
Yes. Kerry Logistics Network rebranded globally to 'KLN' in an exercise announced 28 March 2025, with the Kerry trademark fully phased out by 30 June 2025, reflecting its shift under SF Holding ownership.
