The call

Kingdee leads a market foreign giants cannot enter and its weaker domestic rival cannot fund, with AI built into its own products rather than replacing them.

Kingdee sells bookkeeping and workflow software to Chinese companies and has kept most customers for decades because switching costs are high and the software runs their daily operations. Foreign competitors like SAP and Oracle cannot easily enter because China restricts where company data can be stored and how government contracts are awarded, and Yonyou, the only Chinese rival, is losing money and shrinking. The big question is whether Kingdee's new AI features (Lingee OS and Cosmic Agent Platform) will generate enough extra revenue to justify the price investors are paying for the stock right now, especially since the company's actual profit margin is only about 3 percent.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generic AI agents automating manual ERP workflows. AI agents could replace paid ERP seats over time, but Kingdee sells its own Cosmic Agent Platform as that automation layer. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Alibaba Cloud, Huawei Cloud, Tencent Cloud. Cloud giants could shift from infrastructure partners to direct ERP rivals, but none has shipped a system of record product taking Kingdee accounts. Could a giant copy it? No, they are blocked.
03
What protects it. Chinese data sovereignty rules bar SAP and Oracle, and decades of embedded workflows make switching costly for existing customers.
What would change this call
Kingdee's H1 2026 interim results (board meeting 11 Aug 2026) show AI Suite revenue vs RMB1bn consensus. Tests whether AI monetization is real or just narrative-driven stock support.
Yonyou attempts an HKEX listing or capital raise in the next year. Would show the only unbarred domestic rival gaining resources to contest share.
Net-dollar retention reported below 90% in a future earnings release. Would indicate existing customers are shrinking spend or churning.

Questions people ask
Is Kingdee in financial trouble?
No signs of acute trouble: operating cash flow rose 17.6% year over year to RMB 1,097 million in FY2025 (as of 2025-12-31), and cloud subscription revenue grew 20.9% YoY to RMB 3,556 million. That said, net profit attributable to owners was only RMB 93 million, about a 1.3% margin, so H1 2026 results due around August 2026 are worth checking to see if margins hold or slip back toward a net loss.
Who are Kingdee's biggest competitors?
Kingdee's two main rivals are Huawei's MetaERP, which is already live in large-enterprise accounts and is watched for a possible push down into Kingdee's core SME base, and Yonyou, a co-equal domestic competitor contesting the same SaaS ERP market. Global vendors like SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft Dynamics are largely fenced out of state-owned enterprise accounts by China's Xinchuang domestic-substitution policy, which benefits Kingdee and Yonyou as of the July 2026 assessment.
Is Kingdee at risk from AI?
Kingdee's AI-replacement risk is rated unlikely, with our July 2026 assessment finding its core ERP product unlikely to be absorbed by AI tools. The more concrete concern is that domestic LLM agents like DeepSeek or Alibaba Qwen could be bolted onto rival ERP platforms faster than Kingdee's own AI-contract revenue, which stood at RMB 356 million in FY2025, can scale; this is a watch item through FY2026 results.
What is the biggest risk to Kingdee?
The biggest flagged risk is Huawei's MetaERP moving downmarket from large-enterprise accounts into Kingdee's core small-and-medium-enterprise base, a threat marked as 'building' in the July 2026 assessment. Kingdee's giant-copy risk is rated 'possible' rather than blocked, and this keeps competitive pressure open even though Kingdee ranks 3rd of 12 companies in its cohort overall.
How does Kingdee compare to its peers?
Kingdee ranks 3rd out of 12 companies in its cohort as of the July 2026 assessment, standing out for AI-resilience since its core ERP product is seen as unlikely to be absorbed by AI tools, despite a moat that is solid but not top-tier. It lags on copy-risk because Huawei MetaERP's upmarket push and Yonyou's rivalry keep competitive risk at 'possible' rather than fully closed.
Is Kingdee's growth still strong in 2026?
Yes on the top line: FY2025 total revenue reached RMB 7,006 million, up 12.0% year over year as of 2025-12-31, with cloud services making up 82.5% of revenue at RMB 5,782 million. Subscription revenue specifically grew 20.9% YoY to RMB 3,556 million, though net profit of RMB 93 million shows profitability growth has not kept pace with revenue growth.
