The call

Klear survives as a feature inside Meltwater's bigger business, not as a company that can win an AI-native influencer marketing fight on its own.

Klear helps brands find social-media creators and run influencer campaigns. The work it does (finding creators, matching them to brands, tracking results) is becoming easier for AI tools like Dreamwell AI and Ainfluencer to do automatically, and bigger companies like Sprout Social are adding the same features to their existing products. The one thing that could save it is if Meltwater bundles it so tightly with its other services that customers stick around, but right now there is no sign that is working.

Why
01
AI pressure: Dreamwell AI. Dreamwell AI claims 80-90% campaign task automation, aiming straight at the discovery and reporting work Klear sells today. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Sprout Social, Cision/Brandwatch, Sprinklr. Big social suites are bolting influencer modules onto tools companies already pay for, squeezing out standalone add-ons like Klear. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Klear Pay's multi-currency payment and tax handling gives Meltwater a workflow reason to keep clients beyond simple creator search.
What would change this call
Meltwater's next Euronext earnings filing discloses (or omits) influencer-segment revenue growth. Shows whether the Klear-derived product line is growing or being deprioritized within Meltwater.
Whether the 'Klear' brand name is fully retired within 6-12 months. Would confirm the product is being folded into Meltwater's general suite rather than run as a standalone growth line.
Dreamwell AI or another AI-native entrant publicly crossing $20M ARR with named customer wins. Would show AI-native rivals are pulling paying customers away from established platforms like Klear.

Questions people ask
Is Klear still an independent company or owned by Meltwater?
Klear was acquired by Meltwater in April 2021 for $17.8 million (cash plus earn-out), priced at 1.4x Klear's 2020 revenue of $7.6 million. Since April 2024 it has been rebranded as 'Meltwater Influencer Marketing,' with the Klear name retained only internally for product modules.
Could AI replace Klear's influencer marketing platform?
Much of Klear's core value, creator discovery, matching, and reporting, is pattern-matching work AI handles well. A named rival, Dreamwell AI, claims to automate 80-90% of campaign activities via generative AI as of May 2026, per Fortune Business Insights, pressuring Klear's core workflow.
Who are Klear's biggest competitors?
Third-party comparison sites (2026) name CreatorIQ, Traackr, Aspire, GRIN, Upfluence, and Modash as closest peers; Modash claims 350M+ creator profiles versus Klear/Meltwater's 30M+. Adjacent giants Brandwatch, Sprout Social, and Sprinklr also add competing influencer modules.
Is Klear profitable and how big is its revenue?
Klear's standalone revenue was $7.6 million in FY2020, the last disclosed figure before Meltwater's 2021 acquisition. No standalone Klear revenue has been reported since; it is now folded into parent Meltwater's consolidated financials (FY2022 revenue reported at $439 million).
Has Klear been rebranded or shut down?
Klear has not been shut down but was formally rebranded into 'Meltwater Influencer Marketing' starting April 2024, with communications, login, and branding moved under Meltwater.com. The Klear name persists only internally in features like 'Klear Connect' and 'Klear Pay' as of 2026.
What does Klear Pay do and is it a real moat?
Klear Pay handles global influencer payments across 97 currencies with automated tax form generation, per a Meltwater blog post dated February 22, 2026. This compliance and payments layer is one of the few parts of Klear's product that resists easy replication by AI-native or lower-cost competitors.
