The call

Mockplus is a small, self-funded prototyping tool with no AI edge, no scale, and no clear plan to defend its shrinking corner of a market Figma already leads.

Mockplus makes software that helps people sketch out and test website and app designs using drag-and-drop templates. It is very easy to replace because Figma already owns most of the market by doing the same thing better, and AI tools like Uizard and ChatGPT can now generate designs from scratch without any special software. The company has no special data, partnerships, or customer lock-in that would make people stick with it. Mockplus could only survive if it focused only on customers in China who need their data to stay inside China's borders, but it has not done this yet and has only 18 months to prove it is serious before it becomes a takeover candidate only.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generative design AI (Figma AI, Uizard, v0, MockFlow MCP, ChatGPT/Claude design copilots). Template based wireframing and drag and drop prototyping is what generative models now do natively, and Mockplus has no AI layer of its own yet. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Figma. Figma holds roughly 36.7% of this market with fast AI feature shipping, while Mockplus sits near 0.05% share with a static headcount. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. A loyal base of price sensitive users, mostly in China, on cheap multi year plans they have not bothered to switch away from.
What would change this call
Mockplus announces a China-domestic-only pivot with data-residency compliance within 18 months. Would show Mockplus found a defensible niche Figma cannot easily match.
Mockplus ships comparable AI-native prototyping features (like MockFlow MCP) within a year. Would show Mockplus can keep pace with AI-native rivals instead of falling further behind.
Mockplus headcount or product lineup shrinks further, or Mockplus Cloud/RP/DT gets consolidated or discontinued. Would show the business is contracting under competitive pressure rather than stabilizing.
Key numbers
  • Market share approx 0.05% vs Figma's 36.7% (2025-11-26)
  • Team size roughly 16-18 people, static (2025-11-26)
  • Reported 2024 revenue $3.1M, up from $2M in 2023 (2024-10-16)
Named risks
  • No structural moat: templated wireframing/prototyping workflow directly replicable by generative AI design tools. Severity: high
  • Squeezed between dominant Figma and faster-moving AI-native rivals like MockFlow shipping deeper AI/MCP integration. Severity: high
  • Financial and funding history inconsistent across third-party trackers, undermining transparency for evaluators. Severity: medium
  • Small, largely static team size limits capacity to compete on AI feature development pace. Severity: medium

Questions people ask
Is Mockplus profitable in 2026?
Mockplus discloses no audited financials as a private Chengdu-based company. Its own marketing claims over 2,000,000 users and 200,000+ teams (as of 2020-10-26), but no independently verified revenue or profit figures exist, so profitability cannot be confirmed.
Could AI replace Mockplus?
Mockplus's core work, templated wireframing and drag-and-drop prototyping, is exactly what generative AI tools now do natively. Mockplus responded with Fluig AI, an AI diagramming add-on bundled free with paid plans in its Black Friday 2025 promotion, but rival MockFlow already ships deeper Claude/ChatGPT MCP integration.
Who is Mockplus's biggest competitor?
Figma is Mockplus's dominant competitor. A 6sense category comparison put Figma at roughly 36.7% share of the collaborative design and prototyping market versus about 0.05% for Mockplus, and Figma continues expanding with features like Figma Sites, announced at Figma Config in May 2025.
Who owns Mockplus?
Mockplus operates under Chengdu Mockplus Technology Co., Ltd. (also listed as Jongde Software LLC in some directories), based in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. It remains privately held with no confirmed acquisition or IPO as of 2026.
When was Mockplus founded?
Sources place Mockplus's founding between 2012 and 2014, with Wikipedia and EverybodyWiki stating the platform initially launched in 2014 (per EverybodyWiki, updated 2025-12-04). It is headquartered in Chengdu, Sichuan, China.
Did Adobe try to buy Mockplus's biggest rival Figma?
Adobe attempted to acquire Figma for $20 billion, but the deal was abandoned in December 2023 amid regulatory pushback, per reporting cited by ideaplan.io on 2026-03-10. This left Figma independent and continuing to expand against smaller rivals like Mockplus.
