The call

mParticle keeps running on old enterprise contracts inside Rokt while Salesforce and Adobe pull further ahead in the category it helped build.

mParticle sells software that collects and organizes customer information from many sources so companies can use it for marketing and sales. It used to be hard to replace because it connects to over 300 other tools and companies had spent years setting it up, but that advantage is shrinking fast. Salesforce and Adobe now sell their own versions of the same thing as part of bigger packages, and smaller rivals using Snowflake or Databricks can do similar work more cheaply. The company was also acquired by a parent company called Rokt, and mParticle's growth has slowed to just 40% over three years, which is weak for this type of software. The big question is whether mParticle stays its own product or just becomes hidden plumbing inside Rokt's other tools, and whether it can get back onto the industry's important ranking list by 2027.

Why
01
AI pressure: Warehouse-native tools (Snowflake, Databricks, Hightouch) and AI segmentation built into Salesforce/Adobe. AI-driven identity matching and segmentation are becoming standard features inside bigger suites, not a reason to pick mParticle alone. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Salesforce and Adobe. Salesforce leads and Adobe is sole Visionary in the 2026 Gartner CDP ranking. mParticle dropped off that list entirely. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. A decade of identity plumbing across 300+ integrations and compliance certs makes ripping mParticle out costly for big enterprise customers.

Whether mParticle reappears in Gartner's 2027 Magic Quadrant for CDPs. Shows if mParticle regained standing versus Salesforce and Adobe or stays excluded.
Rokt resumes or permanently shelves its IPO plan within 12 months. Indicates whether mParticle's parent has the capital path investors expected.
Departure of Michael Katz, Andrew Katz, or Jason Lynn from Rokt/mParticle roles. Would signal mParticle being absorbed as plumbing rather than run as a standalone product.

Questions people ask
Who owns mParticle now?
mParticle is owned by ecommerce tech company Rokt, which announced a $300 million investment/merger on January 16, 2025. Founder Michael Katz stayed on as mParticle CEO while co-founder Andrew Katz became Rokt's CTO.
Is mParticle profitable in 2026?
No profitability figures have been disclosed. Third-party estimates put 2024 revenue at roughly $76 million, up from about $54 million in 2021, but no public data confirms mParticle or parent Rokt is profitable as of mid-2026.
Could AI replace mParticle's core product?
Segmentation and identity-matching, mParticle's core functions, are increasingly automatable; the company responded by shipping its own AI tools (Match Boost, Audience Agent, June 25, 2026) rather than being replaced outright, but rivals are embedding similar AI at the same pace.
Who is mParticle's biggest competitor?
Salesforce was named the sole Leader and Adobe the sole Visionary in Gartner's 2026 Magic Quadrant for Customer Data Platforms (March 5, 2026), a report from which mParticle itself was excluded entirely for failing inclusion criteria.
Did Rokt or mParticle go public?
No. Rokt had engaged Morgan Stanley for a planned 2026 IPO but ruled it out on January 27, 2026, citing AI-driven market volatility, despite reaching a reported $7.2 billion valuation by January 2026. mParticle has no independent IPO plan.
Is mParticle still growing?
Third-party estimates show revenue growing modestly from about $54 million in 2021 to roughly $76 million in 2024, per Getlatka (November 29, 2024), but Rokt's $300 million acquisition price in January 2025 was only marginally above mParticle's total prior funding of about $272 million.
