The call

PeerSpot's traffic engine sits inside contracts it doesn't control, while AI chatbots increasingly answer the questions its reviews were built to answer.

PeerSpot publishes reviews that help companies choose software. It makes money when people visit its site to read those reviews, and it has a deal to show reviews inside Amazon and Google's marketplaces. The problem: ChatGPT and other AI tools now read PeerSpot's reviews and answer the same questions directly, so fewer people need to visit PeerSpot's website. G2 is a bigger rival that can survive this better because it has more money and customers. Amazon and Google could also decide to drop PeerSpot or build their own review system when the contract ends. The one thing that could save PeerSpot is if its new AI tool, peerspot.ai, starts getting vendors to pay for it, but it is too new to know if that will work.

Why
01
AI pressure: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini answering vendor-selection queries directly. AI chatbots summarize PeerSpot's own reviews to answer buyer questions, pulling traffic away from the site that generates its leads. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: AWS and Google Cloud Marketplace. AWS and Google control the distribution contract and could build review tools in-house or switch to a rival at renewal. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Sole first-party review provider embedded directly in AWS Marketplace, with Google Cloud Marketplace reportedly added in 2026.
What would change this call
AWS renews or rebids its Marketplace review contract in the next year. Shows whether PeerSpot's distribution edge is durable or just a revocable vendor deal.
peerspot.ai reports paying customers or revenue by mid-2027. Would show the AI product offsets traffic lost to LLM-based answers.
G2 or TrustRadius announces its own AWS or Google Cloud Marketplace integration. Would show PeerSpot's marketplace exclusivity is being challenged directly.

Questions people ask
Is PeerSpot profitable in 2026?
No audited financials are public since PeerSpot is private. It raised one $30M Series A in October 2021 led by Invictus Growth Partners and has taken no subsequent institutional funding rounds as of July 2026, consistent with a lean, self-sustaining operation rather than disclosed profitability.
Could AI replace PeerSpot?
AI threatens PeerSpot's lead-gen traffic model. A December 2025 Profound study found ChatGPT and Claude already cite and repackage PeerSpot's reviews to answer vendor-selection queries directly, reducing site visits. PeerSpot launched peerspot.ai on March 18, 2026 to monetize its review data as a defense.
Who is PeerSpot's biggest competitor?
G2 is PeerSpot's dominant rival, reporting roughly 100 million annual buyers and over 3 million reviews per its own materials, versus PeerSpot's 11 reviews listed on G2's own compare page. PeerSpot instead holds a niche edge as AWS Marketplace's sole first-party review provider.
Is PeerSpot a safe company to join in 2026?
PeerSpot is a private, VC-minority-backed firm with roughly 100 to 150 employees as of 2026, per LinkedIn and BuiltIn ranges. It has one funding round since 2011 (2021's $30M Series A) and no reported layoffs, litigation, or M&A activity found in public records as of July 2026.
Who owns PeerSpot?
PeerSpot is privately held. Founders Russell Rothstein (CEO) and Naftali Marcus lead the company, which bootstrapped for nine years before taking a $30 million Series A in October 2021 from Invictus Growth Partners, which holds a minority stake and two board seats.
Does AWS Marketplace use PeerSpot for reviews?
Yes. AWS's own documentation confirms PeerSpot is the review provider referenced for products listed in AWS Marketplace. PeerSpot also announced in April 2026 that Google selected it to power customer review insights for Google Cloud Marketplace, though that deal is vendor-claimed and not independently confirmed by Google.
