The call

Pika built a fast growing app but sits between better models and bigger platforms, with nothing yet locking users in beyond novelty.

Pika is an app that lets people create short AI videos on their phones. It has millions of users, but the company is squeezed from three directions: Google and other labs make better-quality videos, TikTok and Meta own the places where people actually watch and share videos, and Adobe lets people use Pika as one option among several rather than the only choice. Pika has no special advantage that would stop TikTok, Google, Meta, or Adobe from building the same thing better and pushing it to their huge audiences instead. The one thing that could save Pika is if it becomes a place where people come to see what their friends made, not just to make videos, but right now it is just a tool.

Why
01
AI pressure: Google Veo 3.1 and Kuaishou Kling 3.0. Rival models beat Pika's own output on quality benchmarks, pulling serious creators elsewhere while Pika leans on virality. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Meta, TikTok/ByteDance, Google, Adobe. Meta and TikTok own the distribution Pika's app rides on, and Adobe treats Pika as one of four swappable engines in Firefly. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. A 16.4 million user base and viral TikTok style app that could become a real network if people keep returning.
What would change this call
TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts ship native AI-video generation in-app within a year. Would show platform incumbents absorbing Pika's core use case directly into owned distribution.
Meta acquisition or licensing talks with Pika formally close or collapse. Would show whether Pika secures incumbent backing or is left standalone against bigger rivals.
Pika's standalone app retention/rank in App Store and Play Store over the next two quarters. Would show whether usage is sticky network engagement or a one-time viral spike.

Questions people ask
Is Pika profitable in 2026?
Pika has not disclosed official financials. Third party estimators give wildly conflicting revenue figures (from $7.6M to $85M ARR), none confirmed by the company, so profitability cannot be verified as of mid-2026.
Could AI replace Pika's own product?
Pika's core output is the AI model itself. Independent review scored Pika 2.2 at just 1.5/10 versus Kling, Veo and Runway on quality benchmarks as of October 2025, meaning frontier labs already outperform it natively.
Who is Pika's biggest competitor?
Pika faces Google Veo 3.1 and Kuaishou's Kling 3.0 on model quality, and TikTok, Meta and Adobe Firefly on distribution, as of 2026. Adobe hosts Pika as one of four interchangeable vendors, not an exclusive partner, since June 2025.
Did Meta acquire Pika?
Meta held acquisition and licensing talks with Pika reported by The Information in August 2025, alongside similar talks with Higgsfield, Midjourney, HeyGen and Krea. No completed deal had been confirmed as of the latest reporting.
What is Pika's valuation?
Bloomberg reported Pika's valuation at $470 million after its $80 million Series B closed in June 2024. No new priced funding round has been publicly confirmed since then, as of mid-2026.
How many users does Pika have?
Fortune reported Pika reached 16.4 million users across its creative apps by October 2025, following the launch of a standalone TikTok-like app and a 'Predictive Video' feature, with one video exceeding 19 million TikTok views.
