The call

Poshmark survives as a flat, Naver-funded marketplace while cross-posting AI tools and TikTok Shop chip at its seller loyalty and buyer attention.

Poshmark lets people buy and sell used clothes through its app, mostly Gen Z women. It is hard to copy because it has built real trust between millions of buyers and sellers who use its social features and community, but TikTok Shop and Instagram Shop are now letting people impulse-buy fashion in places where they already spend time, and cheap AI tools let sellers post to multiple platforms at once, which weakens Poshmark's grip on them. The one thing that matters: whether the new CEO invests to keep sellers and buyers happy or just cuts costs; if seller activity starts dropping, Poshmark becomes just another listing site instead of a community.

Why
01
AI pressure: Cross-listing AI tools like Vendoo and List Perfectly, plus TikTok Shop's AI feed. Sellers use AI tools to list once and blast items across eBay, Depop, and TikTok Shop, weakening Poshmark's grip on sellers. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: TikTok Shop and Instagram Shop. Both platforms turn video feeds into impulse fashion buying for Gen Z, pulling attention away from Poshmark's app. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. 80 million users and years of closet/follower relationships that buyers and sellers would have to rebuild elsewhere.
What would change this call
Poshmark GMV growth stays flat or declines in 2026 annual figures. Would show TikTok Shop/Instagram Shop and rivals are eroding its buyer base.
Namsun Kim announces deeper Naver platform integration or cost cuts within 12 months. Would show Naver managing Poshmark for cash flow, not growth investment.
Seller engagement or active-seller counts reported as declining rather than flat. Would show cross-platform AI listing tools letting sellers abandon Poshmark for rivals.

Questions people ask
Is Poshmark profitable in 2026?
Poshmark stopped disclosing financials after Naver took it private in January 2023. Its last public results (2022 TTM) showed roughly $350M revenue. Third-party estimates put 2025 GMV around $1.9B, flat versus 2024, with no profitability figures disclosed since delisting.
Who owns Poshmark?
Poshmark has been a wholly owned subsidiary of South Korea's Naver Corporation since the acquisition closed in January 2023. Naver paid $17.90 per share, valuing the deal at roughly $1.2 billion enterprise value, announced October 4, 2022.
Has Poshmark had layoffs?
Yes. Poshmark cut under 2% of its roughly 800-plus staff in February 2023, weeks after the Naver acquisition closed. Headcount has since fallen further, from 1,349 employees in 2023 to about 1,198 by Q4 2025, per Revelio Labs.
Could AI replace Poshmark's core product?
Poshmark's own listing-creation workflow is already largely automated by its Smart List AI tool, launched January 30, 2025, which cut listing time by an average 48% in beta testing with 82% of testers reporting time savings, per Poshmark's own release.
Who is Poshmark's biggest competitor, eBay or TikTok Shop?
eBay dwarfs Poshmark structurally with about 147 million active buyers versus Poshmark's 80 million-plus registered users and roughly 30 times its revenue, but TikTok Shop and Instagram Shop are the more immediate threat, actively pulling Gen Z fashion resale buyers as of 2026.
Who is Poshmark's CEO now?
Namsun Kim, a Naver investment executive, became Poshmark's Executive Chairman in April 2025 and then CEO effective October 1, 2025, succeeding founder Manish Chandra, who moved to the board, per an August 11, 2025 company announcement.
