The call

Postscript keeps its infrastructure and merchant base, but four years without new funding while Klaviyo and Attentive consolidate leaves it exposed.

Postscript helps Shopify store owners send text messages to customers to drive sales. The company has real customers (about 15,000 stores) and knows how to handle the tricky rules around text messaging and carrier relationships, which takes real work to build. However, Klaviyo (a much bigger public company) and Attentive (which just bought a competitor in late 2025) both offer SMS plus email to the same store owners, have more cash, hire faster, and can offer better deals. The next 6 to 12 months matter most: if Postscript raises new money at a good price, it shows the company still has a shot at survival; if it takes a cheaper round, cuts staff, or gets bought, that would mean the small SMS specialists are losing to the giants.

Why
01
AI pressure: AI campaign tools inside Klaviyo and Attentive. AI campaign tools inside Klaviyo and Attentive could automate the SMS work Postscript sells as a paid service. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Klaviyo and Attentive. Klaviyo bundles SMS into its dominant Shopify email suite, and Attentive absorbed Yotpo's customers, squeezing Postscript's mid market. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. 10DLC carrier registrations, TCPA compliance work, and deep Shopify integration make switching costly once merchants are set up.
What would change this call
Postscript announces a new priced funding round within 12 months. An up-round would show investors still back it as independent; a down-round or none confirms funding drought.
Reports emerge on where former Yotpo SMS customers migrated after the Attentive acquisition. Low migration to Postscript would confirm Attentive is capturing displaced customers, not Postscript.
Postscript announces layoffs or a leadership departure in the next 12 months. Would confirm the 2024 to 2026 pattern of cost cutting continues, signaling financial strain.

Questions people ask
Is Postscript profitable in 2026?
Unclear and unconfirmed. Postscript has disclosed no funding round since its $65M Series C in June 2022, a roughly four year gap as of mid 2026, which could indicate self funding or could reflect a stalled raise; the company has not published profitability figures.
Has Postscript had layoffs?
Yes, employee reviews cite repeated layoffs and restructuring. A Glassdoor review dated December 2025 says the company 'had layoffs recently as they weren't growing as well as they had initially expected,' with more restructuring mentioned in April 2026.
Who is Postscript's biggest competitor?
Attentive and Klaviyo. Klaviyo is the dominant unified email+SMS platform for Shopify merchants and has been public since 2023; Attentive is the enterprise SMS leader that absorbed Yotpo's customer base after Yotpo shut its SMS/email product on December 31, 2025.
Could AI replace Postscript?
Not easily. Postscript's core defense is 10DLC carrier registration, TCPA compliance tooling, and deep Shopify integration, infrastructure a generic AI chatbot cannot replicate without rebuilding the same regulatory and carrier relationships, even as Postscript automates SMS copy and replies via its own Shopper AI.
Who owns Postscript?
Postscript is privately held and venture backed, founded in 2018 by Adam Turner (CEO), Colin Turner (COO), and Alex Beller (President), through Y Combinator Winter 2019. Investors include Greylock, 01 Advisors, Twilio Ventures, Accomplice, Elephant, and OpenView.
How much revenue does Postscript make?
Estimates vary widely and are not company confirmed. Sacra estimated about $39M ARR at end of 2022; Getlatka separately estimated only about $11.8M revenue as of October 2024 with roughly 1,000 customers, an inconsistency that remains unresolved.
