The call

Quanta is growing fast on AI server demand but sits behind Foxconn in shipment volume, with thin margins that leave little room for error.

Quanta Computer is a large Taiwanese manufacturer that builds custom computer servers, particularly the specialized AI servers that companies like Meta and Google need. The company is stable and makes money, but the work is not hard to copy: Foxconn, its main competitor, is already shipping more AI servers, and both companies are fighting over the same customers using similar technology, which keeps prices and profits low. The real question is whether Quanta can grow its share of AI server orders faster than margins shrink, and whether big tech companies will slow down their server-buying plans in 2027.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI server demand is what feeds Quanta's growth, not what threatens it; no AI product replaces its hardware assembly work. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry). Foxconn shipped roughly 2,400 GB200/GB300 racks in Feb 2026 versus Quanta's 1,300 to 1,400, leading the same customer base. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Quanta sits inside NVIDIA's small circle of qualified rack builders, with decades-long engineering ties to Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and Meta that are costly to replace.

Questions people ask
Is Quanta Computer profitable in 2026?
Yes. Quanta posted Q1 2026 net income of NT$21.19 billion, up 8.7% YoY, on record net sales of NT$809.22 billion, and followed with a record Q2 2026 revenue of NT$1.04 trillion, up 15.6% YoY, per company results reported May and July 2026.
Who owns Quanta Computer?
Quanta Computer is an independent publicly traded company on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (ticker 2382), founded in 1988 and chaired by Barry Lam. It has no parent company; market capitalization was roughly NT$1.26 trillion as of July 26, 2026.
Is Foxconn Quanta Computer's biggest competitor?
Yes. In February 2026 Foxconn shipped an estimated 2,400 NVIDIA GB200/GB300 NVL72 racks versus Quanta's roughly 1,300 to 1,400, making Foxconn the AI-server shipment leader ahead of Quanta in the Taiwanese ODM oligopoly, per a Morgan Stanley-cited estimate.
Could AI replace Quanta Computer?
No. Quanta manufactures the physical AI server racks, including NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 systems validated for production in August 2025, that hyperscalers use to run AI workloads. It is a hardware supplier to the AI boom, not a business AI software substitutes.
Is Quanta Computer's revenue still growing fast?
Yes. Q2 2026 revenue hit a record NT$1.04 trillion, up 15.6% YoY, and H1 2026 revenue reached NT$1.85 trillion, up 86.5% YoY, both records, per results reported by Taipei Times on July 8, 2026.
Does Quanta Computer face margin pressure from AI servers?
Yes. Quanta's gross margin contracted about 314 basis points YoY in Q1 2026 amid an AI-server mix shift and a reported 31% QoQ inventory buildup, even as revenue and net income grew, per company disclosures covered by Quartr in 2026.
