The call

A two person team selling agent reliability features that model vendors and observability incumbents are already building into their own products for free.

ReasonBlocks sells software that sits between AI models and the apps that run them, fixing problems like infinite loops and wasted thinking. The problem is that the company sits in the middle of a sandwich: Google just built the same reliability features directly into its Gemini model (July 2026), and Cisco bought a competitor called Galileo and folded it into Splunk (May 2026). The core tricks ReasonBlocks uses, like spotting loops and reusing reasoning, are easy for Google, OpenAI, and other big players to build themselves, especially since they control the models or the frameworks everyone uses. The one way ReasonBlocks could survive is by collecting data from lots of companies to spot rare failure patterns that others cannot, but banks, law firms, and hospitals will not share that data because of contracts and privacy rules, and Cisco and Google already have more data anyway. One thing that could save the company: landing named customers in banking, law, healthcare, or security by the end of 2026 who actually stick around and pay, which would show that the software is too useful to be replaced. Without that, ReasonBlocks looks like a feature rather than a standalone business.

Why
01
AI pressure: Google Gemini 3.6 Flash. Gemini 3.6 Flash ships native agent efficiency and reliability features, the same pitch ReasonBlocks sells as an add on layer. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Cisco (via Galileo acquisition, folded into Splunk Observability). Cisco bought a direct competitor in May 2026 and bundled runtime intervention into Splunk, with named customers already in place. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. None apparent: no named customers, no priced round, and no cross-customer data advantage to defend the position.
What would change this call
ReasonBlocks announces a priced seed round by early-to-mid 2027. Shows investors believe a defensible moat exists beyond the $500K convertible note.
ReasonBlocks names a retained (non-pilot) customer in legal, finance, or healthcare by Q4 2026. Would show workflow lock-in that model vendors structurally cannot copy.
LangChain, OpenAI, or Anthropic SDKs ship native loop-detection or compression features. Confirms model and framework vendors are absorbing ReasonBlocks' core features.
Key numbers
  • 42% accuracy gain claimed on SWE-bench Pro (2026-04-27)
  • 52% token reduction claimed on SWE-bench Pro (2026-04-27)
  • $500K convertible note raised, pre-revenue (2026 (approx Q2/Q3))
Named risks
  • Thin, unverified funding runway may require a priced seed round within months of April 2026 launch. Severity: high
  • Frontier model vendors (Google Gemini 3.6 Flash, July 2026) natively absorbing core cost/reliability pitch. Severity: high
  • No named enterprise customers or case studies disclosed as of April 2026 launch. Severity: medium
  • Target regulated verticals (legal, finance, healthcare) contractually restrict cross-tenant learning needed for data moat. Severity: medium
  • Crowded, better-funded competitive category (LangSmith, Braintrust, Datadog, Cisco/Galileo). Severity: medium

Questions people ask
Is ReasonBlocks profitable in 2026?
No. ReasonBlocks has disclosed no revenue, ARR, or customer count. As of its April 27, 2026 YC launch it was still soliciting customer introductions in legal, finance, healthcare, security, and research rather than reporting any closed deals or income.
Could AI replace ReasonBlocks?
Possibly. ReasonBlocks sells cheaper, more reliable AI agents via loop detection and token compression, but Google shipped Gemini 3.6 Flash on July 22, 2026 explicitly pitched around agent token efficiency and reliability, absorbing the same value proposition natively.
Who is ReasonBlocks' biggest competitor?
Cisco, via its acquisition of agent-observability rival Galileo, announced April 9, 2026 and closed May 22, 2026, folding it into Splunk Observability. Other peers include LangSmith, Braintrust, Arize/Phoenix, Langfuse, and Datadog LLM Observability.
Who owns ReasonBlocks?
ReasonBlocks is a privately held, founder-owned startup backed by Y Combinator (Spring/P26 batch), co-founded by Sajeev Magesh and a co-founder identified in YC materials as Rohan, who report having worked together for 11 years prior to founding in 2026.
Does ReasonBlocks have any paying customers?
No named customers have been disclosed. At its April 27, 2026 YC launch, ReasonBlocks was explicitly asking for introductions in legal, finance, healthcare, security, and research verticals rather than announcing closed enterprise logos.
What does ReasonBlocks actually do?
ReasonBlocks is a runtime layer/SDK that plugs into AI agent execution loops to detect failures like looping or redundant tool calls, compress token-heavy context, and build a persistent reasoning library, claiming a 42% accuracy gain and 52% token reduction on SWE-bench Pro as of April 27, 2026.
