The call

RedCircle keeps real advertisers and creators on a lean team, but Spotify's cheaper entry point for small podcasters is pulling at its exact intake funnel.

RedCircle connects podcast creators with advertisers who want to buy ads on shows, and it has built a real business with thousands of creators and over a billion ad placements. The company is not hard to replace because Spotify, which owns the biggest podcast platform, now offers its own ad tools (Megaphone and a new Partner Program as of early 2026) that can do the same thing more easily for creators already on Spotify. The one thing that could save RedCircle is if Spotify's new ad tools fail to attract the smaller podcasters that RedCircle currently serves, but the next 6 to 12 months will show whether Spotify wins that fight.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. No AI product yet automates host-read ad matching at scale, though generative ad tools could eventually cut into manual ad sales. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: Spotify (via Megaphone and Spotify for Creators). Spotify's January 2026 Partner Program threshold cut lets small podcasters monetize directly on Spotify, bypassing RedCircle's intake funnel. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. OpenRAP programmatic exchange and the Audion Europe partnership give RedCircle reach across shows Spotify does not fully control.
What would change this call
Spotify Partner Program's 500-5,000 weekly-download tier growth reported in news over next 6-12 months. Shows whether Spotify is hollowing out RedCircle's core creator intake funnel.
RedCircle announces new funding round or discloses profitability within 12 months. Would show the company can fund growth without relying on legacy Series A cash.
Acast or Megaphone announces a mid-market podcast hosting acquisition within a year. Would show mid-market consolidation squeezing RedCircle's positioning.

Named risks
  • Spotify's January 2026 Partner Program threshold cuts erode RedCircle's 500-weekly-download acquisition funnel. Severity: high
  • High take rate (30% host-read, 50% programmatic) vs cheaper rivals like Captivate could push podcasters to switch. Severity: medium
  • No funding round since Sept 2021, leaving RedCircle reliant on lean cost structure with no disclosed equity cushion. Severity: medium
  • Conflicting third-party data on headquarters and headcount suggests limited public financial transparency. Severity: low

Questions people ask
Is RedCircle profitable in 2026?
No public profitability data exists. RedCircle is private and last raised a $6M Series A in September 2021 with no subsequent funding round reported through mid 2026, and it does not disclose financials.
Who owns RedCircle?
RedCircle is a private, venture-backed company founded in 2018 (formerly called SeedCast). Its Series A, $6M in September 2021, was co-led by EPIC Ventures and Refinery Ventures with SignalFire, Bloomberg Beta and MathCapital participating. CEO is Mike Kadin.
Could AI replace RedCircle?
RedCircle already automates transcription and, since November 2025, ad-read quality checks via its 'Mic Check' tool, but its core marketplace, host-read ad trust and advertiser relationships built over 1B+ ad insertions are not easily AI-replaceable as of July 2026.
Who is RedCircle's biggest competitor?
Spotify, via its owned Megaphone marketplace and Spotify for Creators, is RedCircle's main threat. In January 2026 Spotify lowered Partner Program thresholds (e.g. from 2,000 to 1,000 engaged listeners), directly targeting RedCircle's small-podcaster funnel.
How much does RedCircle charge podcasters?
As of a February 2026 industry comparison, RedCircle takes roughly 30% of host-read ad revenue and 50% of programmatic ad revenue, higher than Captivate's 5-12% but in line with Acast, Spotify and Megaphone's 50% take rate.
Has RedCircle raised money since its Series A?
No subsequent funding round has been publicly reported since RedCircle's $6M Series A closed in September 2021. Third-party estimates put total funding around $9.5M across three rounds, but this figure is unverified by the company.
