The call

RenewBuy's agent network still works, but its future now rides on an unfinished merger, a stalled court approval, and a tight window to reach the stock market before its rivals do.

RenewBuy sells insurance policies through a network of about 100,000 to 120,000 advisors in smaller Indian towns and cities, which is hard for big tech companies to copy quickly because it requires trust and local relationships. However, larger rivals like Policybazaar already have bigger agent networks, and AI tools for comparing insurance policies and processing claims could eventually let customers do more of this work themselves without any middleman. The company's path forward depends entirely on successfully merging with InsuranceDekho by early 2027, winning approval from Indian regulators, and launching its IPO without the deal falling apart or the market losing interest in insurance-tech startups before then.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generic AI policy-comparison and underwriting tools. AI could let insurers or aggregators skip agents entirely, but RenewBuy owns Artivatic.AI and is folding it into its own underwriting stack first. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: PB Fintech's PB Partners POSP network. PB Partners holds roughly 37-40% of POSP distribution share and is already profitable while RenewBuy is not. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. A licensed 100,000+ agent POSP network in small-town India that took years to build and needs regulatory approval to replicate.
What would change this call
NCLT approves the RenewBuy-InsuranceDekho merger (was pending mid-2026). Shows whether the combined entity can actually form to compete at scale with PB Partners.
Turtlemint's DRHP filing and IPO reception (targeted around January 2026, roughly Rs 2,000cr). Sets category valuation multiples before RenewBuy-InsuranceDekho's own DRHP, testing investor appetite for POSP-model insurtechs.
Combined entity's post-merger POSP market share versus PB Partners in FY26/27 filings. Shows whether the merger actually narrows RenewBuy's distribution gap or leaves it still subscale.

Questions people ask
Is RenewBuy profitable in 2026?
No. RenewBuy's most recent disclosed financials, for FY24 (year ended March 2024), show revenue of about 410 crore rupees against a net loss of 114 crore rupees, narrower than FY23's 197 crore rupee loss but still unprofitable.
Who owns RenewBuy now?
RenewBuy is privately venture backed and, as of mid 2026, is mid merger with rival InsuranceDekho via a May-June 2025 share swap valuing the combined entity near 7,400 crore rupees. CCI cleared the deal November 2025 and IRDAI gave in-principle approval around March 2026, with NCLT approval still pending.
Who is RenewBuy's biggest competitor?
RenewBuy competes in India's POSP agent distribution niche against PB Fintech's PB Partners, which holds roughly 37-40% of POSP market share per HSBC estimates (February 2026), and Turtlemint, which holds roughly 20-23%, making RenewBuy a smaller subscale player.
Could AI replace RenewBuy's business?
Unlikely soon. RenewBuy's core asset is a licensed, human POSP agent network of 100,000 to 120,000-plus advisors across 750-800-plus Tier 2-4 Indian towns, a trust based distribution moat AI struggles to replicate. RenewBuy itself deploys AI via its 2022 Artivatic.AI acquisition for underwriting and claims.
When will RenewBuy (via InsuranceDekho) IPO?
The combined RenewBuy-InsuranceDekho entity is targeting a DRHP filing with SEBI by end-September 2026 and a stock market listing by March 31, 2027, seeking an IPO of roughly 2,500 to 4,000 crore rupees at a valuation near 9,500 crore rupees.
How big is RenewBuy's agent network?
RenewBuy reports a POSP advisor network of 100,000 to 120,000-plus agents operating across 750 to 800-plus cities and towns in India, primarily Tier 2 to Tier 4, alongside tie-ups with roughly 40 insurers as of November 2025.
