The call

Roboteam has real battlefield use and US contracts, but it now trades as one piece of Ondas's fast-moving acquisition rollup, with EU and US rivals building competing programs alongside it.

Roboteam builds small robotic vehicles that militaries use in the field. The company has shipped robots to the U.S. Marine Corps and operates in over 30 countries, which is real proof the product works. However, other companies like QinetiQ and Milrem Robotics are winning similar military contracts, and the European military is standardizing on a different robot platform called iMUGS2, which makes it harder for Roboteam to sell overseas. The one thing that could change this is whether Roboteam can win the next big U.S. military robot contract or keep its current Marine Corps orders growing, but since it was just bought by a larger company called Ondas that is buying many businesses at once, the stock price now depends more on that buying spree working out than on Roboteam's own strength.

Why
01
AI pressure: None apparent. AI shows up as Roboteam's own HUB fleet-coordination layer, a feature it sells, not a force replacing its hardware. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: QinetiQ and Milrem Robotics. QinetiQ already holds the US Army's individual robot program and Milrem has EU/NATO standardization money behind its own UGV line. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Combat use across 30+ countries and repeat USMC orders give it a track record and installed base rivals still have to match.
What would change this call
Outcome of next competitive USMC or NATO UGV tender in 2026. Shows whether Roboteam's moat extends beyond its existing installed base.
Ondas Q1 2026 earnings report on Roboteam's revenue pacing toward $30M. Indicates whether integration and growth targets are being met post-acquisition.
Milrem's iMUGS2 export wins in EU/NATO markets over the next 6-12 months. Shows whether EU standardization is displacing Roboteam in export markets.
Key numbers
  • Ondas paid ~$81.7M cash to acquire Roboteam (2025-12-17)
  • Ondas guides Roboteam to at least $30M revenue in 2026 (2025-11-25)
  • $30M USMC contract for MTGR robots signed (2024-05)
Named risks
  • Ondas 2026 revenue guidance of at least $30 million for Roboteam unit could be missed. Severity: high
  • 90-day post-closing working-capital true-up (due roughly March 2026) could trigger price disputes. Severity: medium
  • EU/NATO-funded rivals like Milrem's iMUGS2 could squeeze Roboteam export competitiveness. Severity: medium
  • Small ~55-person team is dwarfed by QinetiQ, Milrem, and larger defense primes in new tenders. Severity: medium
  • Any Gaza/Lebanon ceasefire could reduce near-term battlefield demand signal for UGVs. Severity: low

Questions people ask
Is Roboteam still an independent company in 2026?
No. Ondas Holdings (Nasdaq: ONDS) closed its acquisition of Roboteam on December 17, 2025 for approximately $81.7 million cash, and Roboteam now operates as a unit inside Ondas Autonomous Systems with its original leadership retained.
Who owns Roboteam now?
Ondas Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: ONDS) owns 100% of Roboteam after closing a definitive $80 million acquisition agreement on November 25, 2025, finalized at about $81.7 million by December 17, 2025.
Is Roboteam profitable?
No standalone audited financials are public. Ondas has guided (acquirer-claimed) at least $30 million in 2026 revenue from the Roboteam unit and $3 to $4 million in Q4 2025, but profitability figures have not been disclosed.
Could AI replace Roboteam's tactical robots?
No. Roboteam's value is rugged, combat-proven hardware validated in Gaza tunnel operations since 2014. Its own AI, the Roboteam HUB launched October 6, 2025, is a fleet-coordination layer added to the hardware, not a replacement for it.
Who is Roboteam's biggest competitor?
QinetiQ, which beat Endeavor Robotics for the US Army's Common Robotic System-Individual program in March 2019, and Milrem Robotics, which leads the EU's iMUGS2 standardization effort backed by 50 million euros as of September 2025.
What does Roboteam actually make?
Roboteam builds tactical unmanned ground vehicles like the MTGR, PROBOT, TIGR, and ROOK, ranging from 1.5kg throwables to 1.2-ton platforms, used in EOD, ISR, and tunnel-clearing missions across 30-plus countries including Gaza since 2014.
