The call

ServiceTitan owns the daily workflow of thousands of trades businesses, and Salesforce has not yet built anything deep enough to pull them away.

ServiceTitan sells software that manages everything for plumbers, electricians, and contractors: scheduling their jobs, collecting payments, and handling paperwork. It is fairly hard to replace because it has been built specifically for trades work with features like dispatcher tools and contractor payment systems woven in, though Salesforce offers a general-purpose alternative and big companies like Microsoft are adding similar tools to their platforms. The real question is whether those larger tech companies will bother adding the specialized trades features that would let them steal ServiceTitan customers away.

Why
01
AI pressure: Salesforce Agentforce, Microsoft Agent 365, Zendesk AI. These platforms already automate customer service calls broadly; they just lack trade-specific dispatch and pricebook depth so far. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: Salesforce (Field Service Cloud / Agentforce). Salesforce sells field service tools at every price tier already, but has not built the trades-specific depth ServiceTitan has. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Trades companies have wired ServiceTitan into dispatch, licensing, payments, and distributor accounts, making ripping it out costly and slow.
What would change this call
Salesforce Agentforce or Microsoft Agent 365 ships a trades-specific module with dispatch and pricebook depth. Would show horizontal AI platforms are closing the vertical-depth gap with ServiceTitan.
ServiceTitan's net dollar retention drops below 105% in a coming quarterly report. Would show customer expansion and stickiness are weakening.
Jobber or Housecall Pro lands a marquee mid-market or enterprise account previously served by ServiceTitan. Would show smaller rivals are climbing up-market and taking share.

Questions people ask
Is ServiceTitan profitable in 2026?
Not on a GAAP basis. ServiceTitan's accumulated deficit stood at $1.29B as of Q1 FY2027 (ended April 30, 2026), though non-GAAP operating margin expanded to 15.2% from 7.5% a year earlier, driven partly by AI product Max.
Who owns ServiceTitan?
ServiceTitan is a public company on Nasdaq under ticker TTAN since its IPO on December 12, 2024. It was founded in 2007 by Ara Mahdessian and Vahe Kuzoyan, who remain company leaders; prior backers included ICONIQ, Bessemer and Thoma Bravo.
Could AI replace ServiceTitan?
Unlikely soon. ServiceTitan builds AI (Atlas, Max, AI Virtual Agents) into its own platform rather than being replaced by it, leveraging deep integrations into dispatch, payments and pricebooks across ~10,800 customers as of January 31, 2026 that create high switching costs.
Is ServiceTitan laying off employees?
No layoff evidence found. Headcount grew from 3,049 (January 2025) to an estimated 3,414 in 2026, and active job postings rose 39.5% year over year in 2025 to 361, per Revelio Labs data from June 2026.
Who is ServiceTitan's biggest competitor?
Salesforce (Field Service Cloud/Agentforce) is the named incumbent threat since it sells field service software at all price tiers and is shipping horizontal AI-agent automation; SMB rivals Jobber and Housecall Pro compete at the smaller end of the market as of 2026.
Is ServiceTitan stock a good investment in 2026?
