The call

Skillsync sells a feature that Anthropic, Google, and Letta already ship natively, with no named customers or revenue disclosed as of mid-2026.

Skillsync helps AI agents share skills and remember conversations over time. The problem is that Anthropic, Google, and Letta have already released their own versions of this same feature built directly into their platforms, and there is nothing stopping other tech companies from doing the same. Five free open-source copies and millions of shared skills online also mean anyone can build this themselves. The one thing that could save Skillsync is if it can find paying customers fast or pivot to something those bigger companies have not yet copied, like tools to control and audit how skills get used.

Why
01
AI pressure: Anthropic (Dreaming) and Google (Memory Bank). Both labs shipped native cross-session memory consolidation inside their own agent platforms within the same quarter Skillsync launched. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Anthropic, Google, GitHub/Microsoft, Letta. Letta already ships a neutral shared-memory layer (Conversations API, git-based Context Repositories) that does what Skillsync does, without the pivot history. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. None apparent: no data flywheel, no enterprise contracts, and the core feature now ships free inside Claude and Gemini agent platforms.
What would change this call
Skillsync announces a seed round or named paying customer by Q4 2026. Would show it survived commoditization by native memory features and OSS clones.
Anthropic or Google adds skill governance or audit trails to their memory features. Would further absorb Skillsync's remaining product surface area.
Letta or SkillsMP ships marketplace pricing or governance features aimed at teams. Would show neutral-layer rivals closing any gap Skillsync still holds.
Key numbers
  • Team of 2, pre-seed near $500K-$1M (conflicting reports) (2026)
  • SkillsMP marketplace already indexes 2.3M SKILL.md files (2026-06-09)
  • Anthropic's Dreaming shipped May 6, Google's Memory Bank May 19, 2026 (2026-05-23)
Named risks
  • Core value proposition duplicated natively by Anthropic and Google within a single quarter of 2026. Severity: high
  • No disclosed revenue, customers, or usage metrics as of mid 2026. Severity: high
  • Already pivoted once (hiring platform to agent sessions) within about five months, signaling strategic instability. Severity: medium
  • Crowded free open source niche (5+ clones) undercuts pricing power before any pricing model is even disclosed. Severity: medium
  • Small funding runway (~$500K) with 2 person team facing well funded rival Letta and frontier labs. Severity: high

Questions people ask
Is Skillsync profitable or generating revenue in 2026?
No. As of mid 2026, Skillsync discloses no revenue, ARR, or paying customers on its YC profile or product site. The two person team has raised only a reported $500K pre seed led by Y Combinator, with no independent traction data found anywhere.
Could AI replace Skillsync's product?
Largely yes. Anthropic shipped native cross session memory consolidation called Dreaming on May 6, 2026, and Google shipped Memory Bank at I/O on May 19, 2026, both addressing the same session memory problem Skillsync targets, directly inside the platforms developers already use.
Who is Skillsync's biggest competitor?
Letta is the most credible funded rival, having shipped a Conversations API for shared agent memory in January 2026 and git based Context Repositories in April 2026. Anthropic and Google's native memory features pose the bigger structural threat since they are free platform additions.
Who owns Skillsync?
Skillsync is privately held and venture backed, founded in 2025 by CEO Narayana Aaditya Ganeshkumar and CTO Nishant Joshi. It is part of Y Combinator's Winter 2026 batch with Tyler Bosmeny as primary YC partner, and YC is listed as lead investor in its pre seed round.
What does Skillsync actually do?
Skillsync bills itself as GitHub for agent sessions: developers use a CLI called skl to push AI coding agent transcripts to a shared searchable store and convert successful sessions into reusable skills any agent can load, per its product site as of July 21, 2026.
Has Skillsync raised a Series A or later funding round?
No later round has been found. Sources point to a pre seed of roughly $500K led by Y Combinator, though one aggregator's headline figure of $1M conflicts with its own body text; the total raised remains unconfirmed as of the latest available data.
