The call

Stan is a profitable, still-growing storefront business that a faster, take-rate-driven rival has already outgrown on scale.

Stan Store helps creators sell products and subscriptions directly to fans through branded online storefronts, and it makes real money with about 40 cents of profit on every dollar earned. The problem is that Whop, a competitor that works like a marketplace instead of a subscription service, is growing four times faster and has already pulled ahead in total revenue. Stan's growth has slowed from 93% per year down to 24% per year, partly because creators have to pay the same monthly fee whether they sell a little or a lot, which means Stan doesn't make more money as its creators succeed. The one thing that could change everything is if Stan figures out a better way to make money as creators grow, or if it becomes so useful that top creators refuse to leave even as Whop keeps gaining speed.

Why
01
AI pressure: General AI storefront builders (ChatGPT commerce agents, Shopify Sidekick). AI agents that spin up checkout pages from a prompt could let creators skip Stan entirely, though Stan's own Stanley AI content tool now adds back ~$3M ARR. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Whop. Whop hit $142M ARR growing 255% YoY on a marketplace take-rate model, versus Stan's $35M ARR growing 24% YoY on flat subscriptions. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. 80,000 paying creators already routing checkout and payments through Stan, plus 40% EBITDA margins that remove any need to raise or discount.

Questions people ask
Is Stan Store profitable?
Yes. Sacra estimates Stan Store runs at roughly a 40% EBITDA margin and has raised only one institutional round, a $5M Forerunner Ventures seed from 2021/2022, making it capital-light and self-sustaining as of 2026.
Who is Stan Store's biggest competitor?
Whop is Stan Store's biggest threat. Sacra reported Whop hit about $142M in annualized revenue by October 2025, growing 255% YoY, versus Stan's roughly $35M ARR growing just 24% YoY, meaning Whop surpassed Stan in revenue scale during 2025.
Is Stan Store still growing fast?
Growth has decelerated sharply. Per Sacra, Stan Store's ARR growth fell from about 93% YoY at the end of 2024 (reaching $28.3M) to roughly 24% YoY in 2025 (reaching about $35M), which analysts attribute to a flat subscription model with no expansion lever.
Who founded and owns Stan Store?
Stan Store was founded in 2020/2021 by CEO John Hu and CTO Vitalii Dodonov. It remains privately held, backed by a $5M Forerunner Ventures seed round, with Gary Vaynerchuk joining as an investor and mentor partner on September 15, 2025.
Could AI replace Stan Store?
Stan Store's checkout and payments infrastructure is not easily replaced by generic AI, but its own AI content agent Stanley, launched officially March 17, 2026, only contributed roughly $3M of its total ARR by mid-2026, showing the AI layer itself is still a thin, unproven addition.
Is Stan Store losing ground to Linktree?
Linktree remains the dominant link-in-bio incumbent with an estimated 80% category market share and about $49M ARR in 2023, but monetizes users far less per creator (about $144 ARPC) than Stan Store's roughly $437 to $491 ARPC, per Sacra estimates.
