Techman Robot
Taiwanese maker of AI-vision collaborative robot arms, backed by Quanta Computer.
Techman is growing and profitable on Quanta's backing, but its AI-vision edge rests on tools Nvidia sells to every rival too.
Techman Robot is a Taiwan-based company that builds collaborative robots (cobots) with built-in AI vision systems that let the robots see and adapt to their environment. The company is profitable and backed by major chip maker Quanta, with thousands of units sold and growing revenue. However, its main advantage, the AI vision technology, is no longer unique. NVIDIA is now giving the exact same AI tools to all competitors like Universal Robots, FANUC, and ABB at the same time, so these much larger, established companies can now build similar robots without any penalty. What could change things is if Techman's new humanoid robot called TM Xplore I becomes popular in the second half of 2026, or if the company finds a completely new way to stay ahead that rivals cannot easily copy.
FANUC, UR, or ABB announces a Jetson-Thor-powered vision cobot shipment. Confirms NVIDIA's shared stack is erasing Techman's software differentiation.
Any wobble in Advantech Japan or chipmaker orders (30% and 25% of sales). Would reveal customer concentration risk turning into real revenue loss.
- FY2025 revenue NT$1.822B, up 23% YoY
- FY2025 net income NT$136.37M, up 45% YoY
- One customer made ~30% of H1 2025 sales
- NVIDIA's shared Jetson Thor and Isaac GR00T stack commoditizes Techman's AI-vision differentiator across rivals.
- Q1 2026 revenue fell 2.43% QoQ against a 20-30% full-year 2026 growth guidance.
- Customer concentration: one customer ~30% and chipmakers ~25% of H1 2025 sales.
- Linkou factory utilization only 50-60% as of August 2025 signals underused capacity.
- Stock down roughly 65% from 52-week high amid geopolitical and Taiwan-export tariff uncertainty.
| Rival | Direction | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Universal Robots | contesting | Techman claims No.2 cobot shipments globally behind UR, vendor-claimed as of 2025-01-09 |
| FANUC | gaining on | Named alongside Techman as NVIDIA Jetson Thor partner shipping vision cobots, 2026-07-15 |
| ABB | contesting | Sells YuMi/GoFa cobots with no structural barrier to matching Techman's AI-vision integration |
| Boston Dynamics | gaining on | Also building on shared NVIDIA Jetson Thor/Isaac GR00T stack as of 2026-07-15 |
| OMRON | contesting | Both a 10% shareholder since 2021-10-29 and an adjacent factory-automation competitor |
- Is Techman Robot profitable?
- Yes. Techman Robot reported FY2025 consolidated net income of NT$136.37 million, up 45% year over year, with EPS of NT$1.46, on revenue of NT$1.822 billion (up 23.03% YoY), as of December 31, 2025.
- Who owns Techman Robot?
- Techman Robot is majority owned by Quanta Storage Inc, part of the Quanta Computer group, and listed on the Taipei Exchange (ticker 4585) since September 26, 2025. Japan's OMRON Corporation holds about a 10% equity stake, taken October 29, 2021.
- Could AI replace Techman Robot's core advantage?
- Techman's AI-vision cobot differentiator relies partly on NVIDIA's Jetson Thor and Isaac GR00T stack, which by July 15, 2026 NVIDIA was also distributing to FANUC, Boston Dynamics, Amazon Robotics and others, risking commoditization of that edge.
- Who is Techman Robot's biggest competitor?
- Techman claims to be the world's No. 2 cobot supplier by shipment volume behind Universal Robots (vendor-claimed, January 9, 2025). FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa and Chinese makers like JAKA also compete directly in vision-integrated cobots.
- Will Techman Robot's humanoid robot launch in 2026?
- Techman unveiled its TM Xplore I wheeled dual-arm humanoid prototype on August 27, 2025, built on NVIDIA Jetson Orin/Thor, with a commercial launch targeted for H2 2026 only if mass production proceeds smoothly.
- Is Techman Robot laying off workers?
- No confirmed layoffs are reported. Workforce estimates from Revelio Labs put headcount at roughly 367 as of March 2026, essentially flat versus 369 in 2024 and 363 in 2025, even as revenue grew 23% in FY2025.
