The call

Transmit Security still sits inside major banks, but its last funding round is five years stale while cloud giants build the same AI fraud tools natively.

Transmit Security builds software to protect banks and large companies from fraud and identity theft. It is hard to replace because it stores years of fraud patterns and data that its bank customers rely on, and switching costs are high. However, Microsoft, Okta, Google, and Amazon are all building the same features into their own products, and they have more money, engineers, and existing customer relationships. The one thing that could save Transmit is if a larger company buys it, or if it raises new money without its value being cut in half.

Why
01
AI pressure: Google Cloud's native AI fraud-detection features. Cloud providers are adding AI-driven fraud and identity checks directly into their platforms, the same job Transmit sells separately. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Microsoft Entra ID and Okta/Auth0. Entra ID and Okta/Auth0 already sell competing passwordless and fraud tools bundled with identity suites banks already use. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Deep integration into core banking systems at 7 of the top 10 US banks makes ripping out Transmit costly and slow.
What would change this call
Transmit Security announces a new funding round or acquisition within 12 months. Would show whether investors still back the stalled $2.3B valuation or force a down-round.
Any of Transmit's top-10-bank customers publicly switches to Microsoft Entra ID or Okta. Would confirm the bank-cohort moat is eroding, not just theoretical.
Gartner or KuppingerCole 2026 leadership report repositions Transmit versus Okta, Ping, ForgeRock. Would show analyst view of competitive standing shifting.

Questions people ask
Is Transmit Security profitable in 2026?
No official profitability data has been disclosed. Third party revenue estimates range wildly from about 25 million to 62 million dollars annually as of 2025 to 2026, with no raise since its 543 million dollar Series A in June 2021, suggesting flat growth rather than confirmed profitability.
Has Transmit Security had layoffs?
Yes, Transmit Security conducted layoffs in July 2022, per TrueUp. Headcount fell from a peak of about 348 in February 2022 to 278 by August 2024, before rising modestly to 317 by June 2026, far below its 2021 plan to double staff to 480.
Could AI replace Transmit Security's fraud detection products?
Partially. Hyperscalers like Microsoft Entra, Google Cloud and AWS Cognito are natively adding AI driven identity and fraud features that could substitute parts of Transmit Security's Mosaic platform, though its embedded bank integrations and proprietary fraud data from processing claimed 3.1 trillion dollars in annual commerce remain harder to replicate as of 2025.
Who is Transmit Security's biggest competitor?
Okta (with Auth0, acquired 2021) and Ping Identity (which acquired ForgeRock in 2023) are its closest CIAM rivals, while Microsoft Entra ID and Google Cloud are simultaneously partners and emerging native-feature competitors as of 2025 to 2026.
Who owns Transmit Security?
Transmit Security is privately held with no parent company. It self financed for eight years before its June 2021 Series A of 543 million dollars led by Insight Partners and General Atlantic, valuing it at roughly 2.2 to 2.3 billion dollars pre-money.
What is Transmit Security's current valuation?
As of 2025 to 2026, data aggregators still cite roughly 2.7 billion dollars, but this is a stale mark carried forward from the June 2021 Series A; no new funding round has been disclosed in the roughly five years since.
