The call

A small, unfunded, shrinking team defends one integration feature while Figma dominates and Anthropic's Claude Design enters the same space.

UXPin makes software that helps designers create user interfaces and prototypes. It is becoming harder to survive because Figma already dominates the market with about three-quarters of all designers, and new AI tools from companies like Anthropic can now generate designs automatically, which was UXPin's strength. The one thing that could save it is Merge, a specialized feature that connects design files to actual computer code and developer tools, but that feature alone may not be enough to keep the company alive if no one invests fresh money or buys it.

Why
01
AI pressure: Claude Design (Anthropic). Claude Design launched April 2026 with AI-native generation, hitting the same designers UXPin's AI features target. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Figma. Figma holds most of the primary design tool market and keeps adding code-to-design features, squeezing UXPin's remaining niche. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Merge, its Git and Storybook code-to-design sync, gives it one workflow feature Figma hasn't fully replicated.
What would change this call
Xenon Partners announces a sale, wind-down, or fresh capital injection for UXPin. Would show whether the owner still sees UXPin as viable or is exiting.
UXPin headcount stabilizes or grows beyond ~10 employees within a year. Would show whether the contraction trend has reversed.
Claude Design (Anthropic) adds code-to-design or design-system features overlapping Merge. Would show whether UXPin's core Merge moat is being eroded by an AI-native rival.
Key numbers
  • Headcount fell from ~40 to ~10 employees, 2021 to 2026 (2026-06-20)
  • No new funding round since $5M Series A in 2015 (2015-07-24)
  • Figma used by ~77% of surveyed designers as primary tool (2021)
Named risks
  • Headcount collapsed from ~40 (2021) to ~10 (2026) with only 1 open role, signaling shrinking capacity. Severity: high
  • No new funding since 2015 under 6 years of PE ownership, raising wind-down or sale risk. Severity: high
  • Frontier AI labs (Anthropic's Claude Design, April 2026) entering the design-tool category directly. Severity: high
  • Figma's Dev Mode and Code Connect erode UXPin Merge's main code-sync differentiator. Severity: medium
  • Third-party revenue estimates for UXPin conflict by roughly 10x and remain unconfirmed. Severity: low

Questions people ask
Is UXPin profitable in 2026?
No confirmed profitability data exists. UXPin has disclosed no audited revenue since being acquired by PE firm Xenon Partners in June 2020, and its headcount fell to just ~10 employees by June 2026, with only 1 open role, consistent with a shrinking rather than thriving business.
Could AI replace UXPin?
UXPin's core AI features (its Forge/Component Creator) are built on third-party GPT and Claude models rather than proprietary tech. Anthropic launched a direct rival, Claude Design, on April 17, 2026, putting frontier AI labs in direct competition with UXPin's own generative design tools.
Who owns UXPin?
UXPin has been owned by Xenon Partners, a SaaS-focused private equity firm, since it acquired the company in June 2020. No new funding round has been disclosed since a $5M Series A in July 2015, over a decade ago, per FinSMEs and CBInsights records.
Who is UXPin's biggest competitor?
Figma is UXPin's dominant competitor, cited by UXPin's own blog as used by 77% of surveyed designers as their primary tool as of 2021. Two other legacy rivals, Adobe XD and InVision, were discontinued in 2023 and late 2024 respectively, leaving Figma unrivaled at the top.
What is UXPin Merge and why does it matter?
UXPin Merge is a feature that syncs a company's real React, Vue, or Angular production component libraries into the design canvas via Git or Storybook integration, letting teams prototype with actual code rather than static shapes. It is UXPin's main technical differentiator versus Figma as of 2026.
Has UXPin raised any funding recently?
No. UXPin's last disclosed funding round was a $5M Series A in July 2015, led by True Ventures with backers including Andreessen Horowitz. It was later acquired by Xenon Partners in June 2020, and no new capital injection has been publicly reported since, per Crustdata data as of June 2026.
