Vantage Data Centers
Builds and runs hyperscale data centers leased to cloud and AI companies worldwide.
Vantage's physical build-out looks secure, but its growth story leans heavily on Stargate partners whose own finances and permits are still being tested in court.
Vantage builds massive data centers where AI companies like OpenAI run their computers, and it has locked in long contracts with these customers. It is hard to copy because land, power hookups, and government permits take years to assemble, and AI companies need custom-built facilities in specific locations. However, roughly 60 percent of Vantage's future revenue comes from one giant project called Stargate involving OpenAI and Oracle, and Oracle has a lot of debt and a low credit rating, which creates real risk that this deal could run into trouble. If Stargate stays on track and the partners' finances stay solid, Vantage has a strong business; if either wobbles, the company's growth slows sharply.
Oracle credit rating action or downgrade news. Would show whether Stargate's key financial backer is destabilizing, threatening Vantage's revenue concentration.
OpenAI public statements scaling back or reaffirming Stargate capex commitments. Would show whether Vantage's largest customer relationship is holding or eroding.

| Rival | Direction | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| QTS Realty Trust (Blackstone) | losing to | QTS holds ~4,752MW disclosed capacity versus Vantage's ~4,187MW as of October 2025 dataset |
| Equinix | gaining on | Analysis dated June 2026 says sponsor backed private platforms like Vantage now hold majority of hyperscale capacity versus public REITs |
| Digital Realty | gaining on | Same June 2026 analysis frames public REITs as structurally disadvantaged by quarterly FFO pressure versus private long hold capital like Vantage |
| Aligned Data Centers | contesting | Aligned backed by AIP, MGX and GIP with ~$40B commitment in 2025, competing for same AI hyperscale deals |
| Switch | contesting | Switch, also DigitalBridge/IFM owned after ~$11B take private in 2022, competes in same sponsor backed tier |
- Is Vantage Data Centers profitable?
- Vantage does not publicly disclose revenue or profit. Third party estimates put annual revenue near 700 million dollars as of October 2025, but the company has raised over 8 billion dollars in equity and tens of billions in debt since 2024, suggesting these estimates likely understate true operating scale.
- Who owns Vantage Data Centers?
- Vantage is privately held. It was founded in 2010 by Silver Lake, then acquired in March 2017 by a consortium of Digital Bridge, PSP Investments and TIAA Investments. In January 2024, DigitalBridge and Silver Lake led a 9.2 billion dollar equity investment at closing.
- Could AI replace Vantage Data Centers?
- No. Vantage leases physical land, power interconnects and permitted data center campuses to hyperscalers, a business AI models cannot replicate. AI demand, especially the Stargate buildout with OpenAI and Oracle, is Vantage's biggest growth driver, not a competitive threat, as of July 2026.
- Who is Vantage Data Centers' biggest competitor?
- QTS Realty Trust, owned by Blackstone, holds the largest disclosed hyperscale capacity among direct peers at roughly 4,752 megawatts as of an October 2025 dataset, versus Vantage's roughly 4,187 megawatts across 12 disclosed projects in the same dataset.
- How exposed is Vantage Data Centers to the Stargate project with OpenAI and Oracle?
- Vantage is building the 1.4GW Frontier campus in Texas, over 25 billion dollars, groundbreaking December 2025, and the roughly 1.3GW Lighthouse campus in Wisconsin, 15 billion dollars, both for the Stargate joint venture of OpenAI, Oracle and SoftBank, per company and Sierra Club filings dated July 2026.
- What risks could disrupt Vantage Data Centers' Wisconsin project?
- A Sierra Club Wisconsin and Midwest Environmental Advocates lawsuit filed July 10, 2026 alleges Wisconsin's DNR improperly skipped a full Environmental Impact Statement for the 15 billion dollar Lighthouse campus, and a separate Oracle lawsuit against the state's Public Service Commission over collateral rules was filed June 19, 2026.
