Velo3D, Inc.
Velo3D builds large-format metal 3D printers for aerospace and defense parts.
Velo3D survived a debt wipeout and now has to prove it can turn a profit before Nikon SLM or its own cash needs settle the question.
Velo3D builds large industrial 3D printers that melt metal powder into parts for rockets and jets. The company claims only it can do this at big scale from the U.S., but Nikon bought a company called SLM Solutions and their new printer is beating Velo3D in the aerospace market where it matters most. Even SpaceX, Velo3D's biggest customer, bought their printer with a special deal that lets SpaceX keep using it forever for free if Velo3D goes out of business, which shows SpaceX doesn't see them as the only option. The one thing that could save Velo3D is if their new printer model called Forge 1 actually works well in real factories and if the company can prove that recent fraud allegations about the CEO are either false or get fixed with a new leader.
Resolution of the June 2026 Morpheus report on CEO credentials and SpaceX ties. Shows whether leadership integrity concerns are substantiated or refuted.
Whether Velo3D issues further dilutive stock sales against its $500M shelf in the next two quarters. Indicates whether cash needs are forcing continued shareholder dilution.
- FY2025 revenue $92.4M, down from $105.3M in FY2024
- Q1 2026 gross margin only 17.2%
- Arrayed Notes Acquisition Corp. now owns ~95% of shares
- Unresolved CEO fraud allegations (Morpheus Research, June 25, 2026) over credentials and SpaceX ties.
- Declining revenue trajectory from $105.3M (FY24) to $60-70M guided FY26.
- Active $500 million shelf registration implies further dilutive stock issuance.
- Thin 17.2% gross margin limits path to sustainable profitability.
- Short interest above 35% of float signals elevated volatility and bearish positioning.

- Is Velo3D profitable in 2026?
- No. Velo3D posted a Q1 2026 net loss of $6.998 million on revenue of $13.8 million (May 12, 2026), though it beat consensus estimates. The company targets EBITDA-positive status only in H2 2026, an unproven near-term promise still pending verification.
- Who owns Velo3D now?
- Arrayed Notes Acquisition Corp. holds roughly 95% of Velo3D's common stock after a December 24, 2024 debt-for-equity exchange that converted $22.4 million of senior secured notes into 185.1 million new shares, also installing Arun Jeldi as CEO.
- Did Velo3D lay off employees?
- Yes, sharply. Headcount fell from 294 employees in 2022 to just 105 in 2024 during its near-bankruptcy period, before rebuilding to 134 by December 31, 2025 and reportedly 160 by mid-2026 as operations stabilized.
- Could AI replace Velo3D's technology?
- Unlikely for hardware. Velo3D's core moat is physical: large-format LPBF printers, 120 to 148 patents, and defense qualification lock-in. Its Flow print-prep software faces encroachment from AI generative-design tools like Autodesk and nTop, but certified metal parts remain hardware-dependent as of 2026.
- Who is Velo3D's biggest competitor?
- Nikon SLM Solutions. Independent trade coverage (3dprint.com, June 18, 2025) says Nikon SLM's NXG XII 600 system has taken leadership of the large-format aerospace metal-AM niche, with Velo3D described as much reduced in inertia by comparison.
- Is it risky to join Velo3D right now?
- Yes. On June 25, 2026, Morpheus Research alleged CEO Arun Jeldi fabricated credentials and misrepresented the SpaceX relationship, driving the stock down 50-55% within a month and pushing short interest above 35% of float by July 22, 2026, an unresolved risk.
