Wimi
French sovereign-cloud collaboration suite for government and regulated firms.
On the record
Checkpoint: Bleu or S3ns achieving SecNumCloud qualification for a sovereign Microsoft/Google alternative
The call
Wimi's regulatory paperwork keeps American clouds out of France's most sensitive agencies for now, but Bleu, S3ns, and its own thin AI roadmap are closing in from both sides.
Wimi makes collaboration and project software for French government agencies. It is hard to replace right now because French law requires software to meet strict security and data-protection rules (SecNumCloud certification), which American companies like Microsoft and Google cannot easily meet. But Microsoft and Google are working with French partners to build their own certified versions, and if they succeed and Wimi's customers switch to them, Wimi's main advantage disappears.
Why
01
AI pressure: Frontier LLMs (Gemini, OpenAI, Claude, Mistral) embedded in rival suites. Rivals bake AI copilots into their suites while Wimi still blocks third-party LLM access, leaving it without a sovereign AI answer yet. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: Bleu (Microsoft/Capgemini/Orange) and S3ns (Google/Thales). Both JVs are racing to get SecNumCloud qualified so Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace can legally serve the same French agencies Wimi holds today. Could a giant copy it? No, they are blocked.
03
What protects it. SecNumCloud SaaS 3.2, HDS, ISO 27001:2022 and Diffusion Restreinte qualifications that US clouds cannot yet match for French sovereign buyers.
What would change this call
Bleu or S3ns obtains SecNumCloud qualification for a full sovereign office suite. Would remove Wimi's regulatory moat and open its government accounts to Microsoft/Google-backed rivals.
National Assembly, Ministry of Armed Forces, or AP-HP switches away from Wimi to Bleu or S3ns. Would show Wimi's sovereign public-sector lock-in is breaking.
Wimi ships sovereign-hosted AI features within 12 months. Would show Wimi can keep pace with AI-driven rivals like Teamwork.com and monday.com.

Questions people ask
- Is Wimi profitable in 2026?
- Wimi does not publish financial results and is privately held with no external investors. Co-founder Antoine Duboscq said in a June 2025 interview the company had roughly 50 employees and was targeting almost 30 million euros in sales as a milestone, implying revenue was below that figure at the time.
- Who owns Wimi Teamwork?
- Wimi is described on its own site as 100% French and independent, with capital held entirely by founders Lionel Roux and Antoine Duboscq since founding in 2010, and no external investors, as stated as of May 27, 2026.
- Could AI replace Wimi's collaboration suite?
- Generic task management, calendaring and video conferencing are increasingly commoditized by AI-native rivals, but Wimi's SecNumCloud SaaS 3.2 qualification (June 2026) and blocking of third-party LLM access (Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral) give it a regulatory moat AI wrappers cannot easily bypass for French sovereign buyers.
- Is Wimi's biggest threat Microsoft or Google?
- Both. Microsoft's Bleu JV with Capgemini and Orange and Google's S3NS JV with Thales are building SecNumCloud-qualified sovereign alternatives; S3NS already received SecNumCloud qualification per a December 19, 2025 announcement, directly threatening Wimi's certification-based moat.
- How many employees does Wimi have?
- Estimates conflict: CEO Lionel Roux described leading a team of 20 experts in a March 28, 2026 bio, while co-founder Antoine Duboscq cited about 50 internal employees in a June 17, 2025 interview. No audited headcount figure is publicly available.
- Does Wimi use AI in its product?
- Wimi's AI rollout appears limited as of mid-2026: a March 2026 Capterra user review references upcoming AI-generated wiki summaries as promised but not yet delivered, and no dedicated AI feature page exists on Wimi's site, unlike competitor Teamwork.com's bundled TeamworkAI.
