The call

WorkWave still holds a large base of daily-use customers, but ServiceTitan's reach and AI-native rivals are testing how long that holds.

WorkWave makes software that helps small businesses like pest control and lawn care companies manage their jobs, schedules, and payments. The company built its business over decades and has 8,000 loyal customers who rely on its system, but this advantage is shrinking in real time. A larger competitor called ServiceTitan (which is publicly traded) is actively taking customers in WorkWave's core markets by offering similar tools, and new AI-first competitors like Solea are showing up with smarter automation that makes older software feel outdated. WorkWave released its own AI features (called WAIve and Wavelytics) to fight back, but they are not yet widely available and it is unclear if they will feel as advanced as what rivals are building. The question that matters most is whether WorkWave's new AI tools can actually match what competitors offer by mid-2026, and whether ServiceTitan keeps winning customers over the next year.

Why
01
AI pressure: Solea and Jobber AI (AI-native field service assistants). Solea and Jobber AI ship built-in AI dispatch and receptionist tools, drawing customers who call WorkWave's AI a bolt-on add. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: ServiceTitan (via FieldRoutes, Aspire, ServicePro). ServiceTitan already runs pest, lawn, and HVAC accounts through FieldRoutes and Aspire, pressing directly into WorkWave's core verticals. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Thousands of customers run daily routing, billing, and payments on WorkWave, making a switch slow and costly.
What would change this call
WAIve/Wavelytics reach general availability by Q2 2026. Shows whether WorkWave's AI response is genuinely AI-native or still a bolt-on add-on.
WorkWave headcount trend in H2 2026 (currently down 16% since 2023). Continued decline would signal cost pressure or customer/revenue attrition.
Trade press reports of ServiceTitan/FieldRoutes documented account wins in pest or lawn verticals. Would confirm the incumbent is actively converting WorkWave's core customer base.

Questions people ask
Is WorkWave profitable?
WorkWave has claimed strong profitability historically, reporting 131% profit growth in 2020 alongside 47% organic revenue growth, per its own March 2021 announcement. No independent audited profitability figures for 2025-2026 are public, and the company remains privately held under EQT, Hg, and TA Associates.
Who owns WorkWave?
WorkWave separated from IFS in June 2021 to become a standalone portfolio company backed by EQT, TA Associates, and later Hg, which joined as a minority partner in March 2022 when WorkWave and IFS were jointly valued at about $10 billion. It is not currently an IFS subsidiary.
Could AI replace WorkWave's software?
Not outright, but core functions like CSR call handling, dispatch, and reporting are being targeted by AI-native rivals Solea and Jobber AI. Independent trade press in June 2026 still described WorkWave's PestPac AI as 'bolt-on' versus native competitors, even after WorkWave launched its WAIve AI platform on January 27, 2026.
Is WorkWave losing to ServiceTitan?
In its core pest control and lawn care verticals, yes: a June 2026 industry buyer's guide called ServiceTitan/FieldRoutes the 'industry default' for pest and lawn field service software, a status WorkWave's PestPac and RealGreen brands are actively contesting but not currently leading.
What is WorkWave's flagship AI product?
WAIve, an 'always-on' AI platform with autonomous agents and a natural-language 'Ask WAIve' interface, launched January 27, 2026, followed by Wavelytics Decision Intelligence for prescriptive analytics announced February 2, 2026; both target broader general availability in Q2 2026.
How many customers does WorkWave have?
WorkWave states it serves over 8,000 customers worldwide as of a January 26, 2026 company announcement, up from roughly 7,300 customers when IFS acquired the company in September 2017.
