The call

Aircall is profitable and growing but sits on borrowed differentiation, with its AI edge and its biggest distribution channel both exposed to bigger players.

Aircall sells cloud phone systems and AI call features to 23,000 companies, mostly through HubSpot's app store. The problem is that competitors like RingCentral and Dialpad are shipping the exact same AI features at the same speed, and new startups like Vapi and Retell are making it cheap and easy for anyone to add smart calling to any product, so there is no real reason customers have to stick with Aircall instead of a cheaper or better option. The biggest risk is that HubSpot, which sends Aircall 15,000 of its customers, could decide to build calling itself and overnight turn from partner into rival, the way Amazon turned from AWS customer to AWS competitor.

Why
01
AI pressure: OpenAI Realtime, Google Gemini Live, and voice-agent startups (Vapi, Retell, Bland). Frontier voice models let any rival bolt on smart calling, turning Aircall's AI features into a checkbox rather than a reason to choose them. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: HubSpot. HubSpot is Aircall's biggest channel partner with 15,000+ installs; native HubSpot calling would gut that channel overnight. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. 23,000+ embedded customers and deep CRM integrations create switching friction that a checkbox AI feature doesn't erase.
What would change this call
HubSpot announces or ships native, first-class calling inside its own platform. Aircall's largest channel partner becomes a direct competitor, threatening its distribution base.
OpenAI, Google, or a voice-agent startup releases a plug-and-play smart-calling feature. Aircall's AI differentiation becomes a commodity available to any rival.
Aircall discloses ARR growth rate, gross margin, or a new funding/valuation event within a year. Shows whether growth deceleration and AI-cost pressure are worsening or stabilizing.

Questions people ask
Is Aircall profitable in 2026?
Aircall stated it was profitable as of April 2025, when it announced surpassing $175 million in ARR with 25% year over year growth. By June 2026 the company said ARR had passed $200 million, suggesting continued profitable growth, though no independent audit confirms this.
Who is Aircall's biggest competitor?
Aircall competes directly with Dialpad, RingCentral, Five9, and Talkdesk in cloud calling and contact center software. Its biggest risk may be HubSpot, its largest channel partner with 15,000+ installs as of February 2026, which could internalize calling and become a direct rival.
Could AI replace Aircall's core product?
Frontier voice AI from OpenAI, Google, and startups like Vapi and Retell threatens to commoditize the 'smart calling' features Aircall charges a premium for. Aircall responded by acquiring voice AI startup Vogent in May 2026 rather than building the capability internally.
Who owns Aircall?
Aircall is privately held and VC backed, with no parent company or IPO. Its last disclosed funding was a $120 million Series D in June 2021 led by Goldman Sachs Asset Management, which valued the company at $1 billion.
What is Aircall's revenue in 2026?
Aircall's own press materials stated it surpassed $200 million in annual recurring revenue as of June 3, 2026, up from a company-announced $175 million ARR milestone in April 2025 when growth was 25% year over year.
Why did Aircall acquire Vogent and Piper AI?
Aircall acquired AI voice agent company Vogent on May 6, 2026 to improve speech models for its AI Voice Agent, then acquired Piper AI on June 3, 2026 for agentic sales orchestration. The two acquisitions in one month signal urgency to build AI capability rather than compete on it organically.
