The call

A packaging marketplace with a discontinued financing arm, an open fraud complaint against its leadership, and a much larger rival running the same playbook cleanly.

Bizongo helps factories and builders buy raw materials like steel and cement online, and used to offer financing to make those purchases easier. The company now faces three big problems at once: a criminal investigation into alleged theft of 69 to 124 crore rupees by its founders and leaders, which has destroyed trust in the financing business (they shut it down); money-losing operations that are getting worse faster than the business is growing; and a much bigger competitor called OfBusiness that does the same thing but makes seven times more revenue and is growing much faster. The core shopping and quote features could eventually be replaced by AI tools that find the best prices automatically, since there is no special data or legal protection keeping customers locked in. If the criminal investigation leads to arrests or investor losses, or if the company cannot raise new funding, the collapse could happen quickly, but even a legal victory would not solve the competition or money problems.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generic AI procurement copilots and price-comparison agents. Price discovery, quote generation, and catalogue matching are the core of Bizongo's marketplace and are easy for AI agents to automate. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: OfBusiness/Oxyzo. Runs the same raw-material plus embedded-financing model at roughly seven times Bizongo's revenue and growing 34% a year with clean governance. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Existing enterprise relationships and vendor onboarding built up since 2015, though nothing stops a buyer from switching.
What would change this call
Resolution of the TradeCred/EOW criminal complaint filed July 2025 over BizongoFin. Would show whether founders/CEO face charges or a forced leadership exit.
Publication of filed FY25/FY26 financial statements showing actual profit or loss. Would confirm or refute claimed FY26 profitability versus continued heavy losses.
Any further layoffs or C-suite departures reported at Bizongo within the next year. Would indicate continued survival-mode operations rather than stabilization.

Questions people ask
Is Bizongo profitable in 2026?
No. Bizongo posted a net loss of ₹291.6 crore in FY23 against revenue of ₹166.86 crore, with losses growing faster than revenue. New CEO Prahlad Krishnamurthi set a goal of FY26 profitability when appointed on March 11, 2025, but no filed FY26 financials confirming profitability have surfaced as of mid-2026.
Is Bizongo involved in a fraud investigation?
Yes. In July 2025, invoice-discounting platform TradeCred filed a criminal complaint with Mumbai's Economic Offences Wing alleging ₹69 to 124 crore misappropriated from Bizongo's supply-chain financing arm, naming founders Sachin Agrawal and Ankit Tomar, CEO Prahlad Krishnamurthi, and investor representatives from Accel, B Capital, Chiratae and IFC.
Who is Bizongo's biggest competitor?
OfBusiness/Oxyzo runs the same raw-material procurement plus embedded financing model at far greater scale, posting ₹1,207 crore FY25 revenue with 34% year-over-year growth and an IPO-track path, versus Bizongo's ₹166.86 to 185 crore FY23 revenue and an unresolved fraud complaint filed in July 2025.
Could AI replace what Bizongo does?
Much of Bizongo's core marketplace workflow, price discovery, quote generation, and vendor catalogue matching, is the kind of task generic AI procurement copilots can automate. Its main claimed defense, embedded supply-chain financing with 30+ banks and NBFCs, was discontinued and is now under a criminal probe filed in July 2025.
Who owns Bizongo?
Bizongo is privately held (legal entity Smartpaddle Technology Pvt Ltd), backed by investors including Accel, IFC, B Capital, Chiratae Ventures and Schroders. Its last priced round was a $4.5M Series E extension closed March 11, 2025, valuing the company at $980 million, a 63% step-up from a $600 million 2022 round.
Has Bizongo had layoffs?
Yes, twice documented. In June/July 2020 Bizongo cut about 140 employees, roughly half its pre-COVID headcount. In October 2023, one day after closing a $50 million raise, it laid off about 50 employees (about 15% of its then roughly 413-person staff).
