The call

Braze keeps growing and keeps customers, but the market is pricing in worry that AI features cost more to deliver than they earn back.

Braze helps big companies send personalized messages to their customers across email, text, and apps in real time. It is hard to replace because companies embed Braze's software deep into their systems, their data lives there, and moving everything out is painful and risky, which keeps customers from leaving even though Salesforce and Adobe offer similar tools. The real question is whether Braze can make money from new AI features without cutting into its profits, and whether that money will stay put as technology companies try to build simpler, cheaper replacements from scratch.

Why
01
AI pressure: Hyperscaler and AI-native agentic marketing tools (e.g. from AWS, Google, OpenAI-based startups). AI agents could automate campaign orchestration directly, but for now Braze is bundling AI (Decisioning Studio) into its own pipeline, not losing to it. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Campaign. Both have coexisted with Braze for years without a real-time, mobile-SDK-native product that wins renewals outright. Could a giant copy it? Probably.
03
What protects it. Deep mobile SDK embeds, real-time data pipelines, and deliverability infrastructure make ripping Braze out costly for 2,700 enterprise customers.
What would change this call
Braze's NRR in upcoming quarterly reports falls below 105%. Would show existing customers are shrinking spend or leaving, weakening the moat.
Salesforce or Adobe announces a real-time, mobile-SDK-native product and cites Braze customer wins. Would show an incumbent finally breaching the switching-cost barrier.
Gross margin trend over next 2-3 quarterly reports as AI features scale. Would show whether AI monetization is a cost tax eroding profitability or a durable extension of pricing power.

Questions people ask
Is Braze profitable in 2026?
Braze has not disclosed GAAP profitability as of Q1 FY2027 (April 30, 2026). Revenue rose 30.2% YoY to $211M, but the stock fell 16.1% on the print as investors focused on margin pressure tied to AI feature monetization rather than the top-line beat.
Could AI replace Braze?
Unlikely soon. As of April 2026 Braze embeds AI (Decisioning Studio, Operator, Agent Console) into its own platform rather than being replaced by it, owning real-time data pipelines, mobile SDKs, and deliverability infrastructure that generic AI agents cannot easily replicate.
Who owns Braze?
Braze, Inc. is a public company trading on Nasdaq as BRZE, with no parent company. It IPO'd November 17, 2021, raising $520 million at a ~$5.9 billion valuation; market cap was about $2.79-2.95 billion as of July 21, 2026.
Is Braze losing customers to Salesforce or Klaviyo?
No evidence of share loss as of April 2026. Braze's net revenue retention hit 110% and customers spending $500K+ annually grew 33% YoY to 349, even as Klaviyo, Iterable, and CleverTap compete for smaller accounts.
Why did Braze stock drop despite beating earnings?
On May 27, 2026, Braze reported Q1 FY2027 revenue of $211M (up 30.2% YoY) beating estimates, yet shares fell 16.1% as investors worried about margin compression from AI product mix, including Decisioning Studio's $5.7M contribution to that quarter's revenue.
Did Braze acquire OfferFit?
Yes. Braze announced an agreement to acquire AI decisioning company OfferFit for $325 million in March 2025, and the deal closed June 2, 2025, feeding directly into the BrazeAI Decisioning Studio launched that September.
