The call

Cyara has real technical depth in call testing, but NICE just bought its way into the same turf and can bundle it for free.

Cyara makes software that tests whether AI agents and customer-service systems work correctly across phone calls, chat, and other channels. It is hard to copy because Cyara has built deep connections with phone carriers and other platforms over many years, and that takes time and money to rebuild. However, NICE, a much larger company that sells customer-service software to big enterprises, just bought a competitor called Cognigy and can now offer AI testing inside their existing product at almost no extra cost to them, which puts pressure on Cyara's price and independence. The one thing that could save Cyara is if customers decide they need AI testing as its own separate product instead of bundled inside a giant suite, or if Cyara's new CEO finds a fresh angle in AI governance that NICE has not thought of yet.

Why
01
AI pressure: Generic LLM-based test generation tools. Off the shelf AI can now write test scripts, squeezing Cyara's core testing business toward commodity pricing. Could AI do the core job? Only partly.
02
Bigger players: NICE (bought Cognigy for $955M in Sept 2025). NICE can now bundle native AI testing and governance into its CXone suite at no extra cost, undercutting Cyara in shared accounts. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Carrier-based call testing and deep cross-platform integrations that took years to build and are hard to copy fast.
What would change this call
NICE ships a native agentic-testing/AI-governance module inside CXone within 12-18 months. Shows the incumbent can commoditize Cyara's re-wedge at zero marginal cost.
Cyara renewal or win/loss data in NICE-only accounts post-Cognigy becomes public or reported. Would reveal whether Cyara is actually losing single-vendor customers to bundling.
New CEO Sushil Kumar announces strategy, funding round, or M&A by late 2026. Indicates whether Cyara can fund a standalone push or faces K1 recap pressure.

Questions people ask
Is Cyara profitable in 2026?
Cyara has not disclosed profitability figures. It is privately held, backed by K1 Investment Management since a $350M+ growth recapitalization in January 2022, and claims over 50% YoY revenue growth in FY23 (vendor-claimed), but no audited profit data is public.
Who owns Cyara?
Cyara is private equity backed. K1 Investment Management led a $350M+ growth/recapitalization investment in January 2022. PeakSpan Capital, which led a $25M Series A in 2016 with Greenspring Associates, remains a minority shareholder.
Could AI replace Cyara's testing platform?
Generic LLM-based test generation threatens scripted regression testing, but Cyara's carrier-based call testing (360+ carriers, 120+ countries as of April 2026) and platform integrations are harder to replicate, prompting its pivot into agentic-AI governance and validation.
Is NICE a threat to Cyara?
Yes. NICE acquired conversational-AI vendor Cognigy for $955M in September 2025, giving it (roughly $2.9B revenue) the ability to bundle native AI-testing and governance into its CXone suite, pressuring Cyara's single-vendor accounts.
Has Cyara had layoffs?
No public reports of layoffs at Cyara were found as of mid-2026. The company has instead been in acquisition and product-expansion mode, including a December 2025 CEO change and new agentic-AI testing launches in 2025 and 2026.
What is Cyara's biggest competitor?
Cyara's biggest structural threat is NICE, which bought Cognigy for $955M in September 2025 to add agentic-AI capability to its CXone suite; Genesys and Verint are also making parallel moves, including Genesys's Pinkfish acquisition in June 2026.
