The call

DTI still bills review by the hour while every major rival ships AI review products, with no public countermove as of mid-2026.

DTI makes money by having people read through millions of documents in legal cases to find important evidence. Relativity, Reveal, and TransPerfect have all released AI tools that do this job much faster and cheaper, with studies showing AI can finish in 18 hours what used to take a team 1,100 hours. DTI has not announced its own AI tool or partnership to fight back, and its workforce has shrunk from 3,000 people to 1,000 to 2,000 with no growth, so the company appears to be losing ground. The one thing that could change this is if DTI announces a real AI-powered document review product or a partnership with a strong AI company before the end of 2026, otherwise the company's decline will likely continue.

Why
01
AI pressure: Relativity aiR, Reveal aji, TransPerfect Reef 4.0, eDiscovery AI CaseBot. Generative review tools cut attorney hours 60x, hitting DTI's core managed review revenue at its base. Could AI do the core job? Yes, likely.
02
Bigger players: Relativity and TransPerfect Legal. Bigger eDiscovery platforms now bundle AI review into existing licenses, undercutting DTI's per-hour billing. Could a giant copy it? Yes, easily.
03
What protects it. Long-running relationships with AmLaw firms and on-site staffing contracts, but neither blocks AI-priced review competing for the same work.
What would change this call
DTI announces or partners on an AI-native document review product by Q4 2026. Would show DTI is defending its core review revenue rather than losing it to AI rivals.
DTI headcount or office count falls further below current 1,000-2,000 range. Would confirm continued shrinkage of the manual-review business AI is replacing.
DTI is acquired by a strategic buyer or reports a major AmLaw client loss to an AI-native rival. Would show whether DTI's position hardens into decline or gets absorbed.

Questions people ask
Is DTI (formerly DTI Global) shipping any AI-powered document review product in 2026?
No public evidence found. As of June 27, 2026, Stanford's CodeX TechIndex lists DTI as active but no company specific AI product launch or tech rebrand has surfaced in the prior 18 months, unlike rivals Reveal, TransPerfect, and eDiscovery AI who all launched generative AI review tools in 2025 to 2026.
Could AI replace DTI's managed document review business?
Very plausibly. A June 8, 2026 Redgrave LLP study found Relativity's aiR for Review hit 88% recall in about 18 attorney hours versus 64% recall and 1,123 hours for a 24 person human team, a roughly 60x labor reduction in the exact service DTI sells.
Who owns DTI (DTI Global) today?
Unclear from public records. OMERS Private Equity recapitalized Document Technologies Holdings (DTI) on August 18, 2014 with about 3,000 employees across 29 offices; no public sale, IPO, or new PE sponsor for the dtiglobal.com entity has been reported as of mid 2026.
Is DTI the same company as Epiq?
Historically linked but ambiguous today. In September 2016 OMERS and Harvest Partners used DTI as the vehicle to acquire Epiq Systems, and on January 22, 2018 the combined organization formally rebranded entirely as Epiq, yet a company still operating as DTI at dtiglobal.com remained active through 2026.
Is DTI shrinking or growing its headcount?
Headcount appears to have contracted sharply. DTI had about 3,000 employees across 29 offices in August 2014 per OMERS; various listings by 2023 to 2026 describe DTI at roughly 1,000 to 5,000 employees, suggesting a substantial decline over the decade with no visible recent growth.
What is DTI's biggest competitive threat in 2026?
Generative AI eDiscovery platforms. Relativity bundled unlimited aiR for Review pricing into RelativityOne starting November 1, 2025, Reveal's aji engine went live September 30, 2025, and TransPerfect launched Reef Review 4.0 on March 11, 2026, all targeting the managed review work DTI sells.
