The call

Evolution still leads US live-dealer gaming by share and margin, but revenue growth has stalled while regulators and Playtech's litigation press on multiple fronts at once.

Evolution AB makes the software and live video streams that power online casinos in the United States and worldwide, running over 870 partnerships with casino brands. It is hard to replace because it operates actual studios in 40+ countries, has exclusive rights to games like MONOPOLY, and earns very high profits (nearly 66 cents per dollar of revenue). However, revenue stopped growing in early 2026, regulators in the UK and Nevada have rejected deals or imposed fines, and a competitor called Playtech claims it is growing much faster in the US while also suing Evolution over alleged violations. The biggest unknown is whether US state regulators will keep approving Evolution's licenses and partnerships, or whether Playtech's lawsuit and faster growth will shift customers away.

Why
01
AI pressure: AI-generated virtual dealers/avatars (e.g. NVIDIA ACE-style synthetic hosts). Synthetic avatars could mimic live-dealer feel far cheaper than staffed studios, but regulators still require verified human dealers on camera. Could AI do the core job? Unlikely.
02
Bigger players: Playtech. Playtech runs 500+ live tables and claims triple-digit US live growth, and is suing Evolution over sanctioned-country dealings. Could a giant copy it? No, they are blocked.
03
What protects it. Regulated physical studios in 40+ jurisdictions, 870+ operator integrations, and exclusive IP like Hasbro's MONOPOLY make switching or copying hard.

Questions people ask
Is Evolution AB profitable in 2026?
Yes. Evolution AB reported Q2 2026 net profit of EUR 251.4 million on net revenues of EUR 517.8 million, with a 65.9% EBITDA margin, though revenue was down 1.2% year-over-year as of June 30, 2026, per its interim report.
Who is Evolution AB's biggest competitor?
Playtech is Evolution's closest live-casino rival, with FY2025 revenue of EUR 764 million and about 500 live tables across 17 studios; Playtech also claims over 300% US live-casino growth in H1 2025 and is in active litigation with Evolution as of December 2025.
Did Evolution AB's Galaxy Gaming acquisition fall through?
Yes. Evolution terminated its planned $85 million acquisition of Galaxy Gaming in July 2026 after failing to secure Nevada and Louisiana regulatory approvals, paying a $5.23 million break fee, as reported July 22, 2026.
Is Evolution AB a safe company to join for employment?
Mixed signals: Evolution self-reports about 22,900 studio employees as of mid-2026, but third-party tracker Revelio Labs estimates only 11,397 employees at end of 2025, down 17.5% from 2023, with job postings down 18.9% in 2025 and declining employee sentiment.
Could AI replace Evolution AB's live dealers?
Unlikely for its core product. Evolution's live-dealer casino games rely on regulated, licensed physical studios and human dealers, which are structurally resistant to AI automation; AI pressure is more plausible in the smaller RNG-slot content pipeline, per industry-wide trends as of 2026.
Who owns Evolution AB?
Evolution AB is publicly traded on Nasdaq Stockholm (ticker EVO) with a free-float shareholder base and no controlling parent. Cayman Islands billionaire Kenneth Dart acquired roughly a 5% stake in 2024, per Wikipedia sourcing as of March 2026.
